Hi :-)
I am looking for some advice on fluid retention. I am almost 23 weeks and have just noticed that tonight my ankles look kind of puffy. Does anyone know if there is a cure for this? I drink loads of water throughut the day so I am doing something right at least. I also walk quite a bit. I am wondering if maybe I need to walk more or whether the walking in itself is part of the reason for the swolen ankles. I have never had anything like this before so I dont know if its normal or whether I should try to fix it:o
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated:)

Hi littlepickle, I was told for fluid retention to put my feet up for a while, talk to your midwife to see what she says, hope it doesn't get much worse for ya

hi there, i started getting fluid retention around the same time as you my baby is now 16 months. The best thing to do is put your feet up, drink plenty of water, which is what you are doing.
Everyones different but as i got bigger my ankles grew larger and ached, so lots of massages are great!! From the body shop there is a soothing foot lotion you can get, its sooo good!! I made everyone massage my feet and ankles all the time. Most of the time they will offer because its uncomfortable.
I developed pre-eclampsia, and some signs of that are high blood pressure, fluid retention. Im not trying to scare you, but just keep an eye on them, (although towards the end i couldnt see my feet!! lol)
Oh and dont stress!! Relax take things easy, let people help you.

Make sure you drink heaps of water.....contrary to what most people think, dehydration makes you retain water, and drinking lots helps relieve retention.

Be careful though and keep your eyes open for any SUDDEN swelling of your feet, fingers, and ESPECIALLY your face. If you are feeling sick or headachey, get yourself to the doctor to get your blood pressure checked!

Dont take risks!
