Hey everyone,

I havent had a dating scan before but I think that I might this time...depending on the cost? I guess it doesnt really matter as I will find out at the 20 week scan anyway.

How do I go about booking one and how much does it cost roughly? We are public:)

I know the date of my LMP but I KNOW that I didn't conceive on day 14 coz hubby was away (I wont say that too loudly lol:eek:)....so I think it was day 16 or 17....I may just have to join the November thread instead!
TIA

Hey chick

dating scans are usually done between 6 and 10wks, and the cost varies, normally around $120, some places less, others more so you'll have to ring around

Thanks G......and would I need a referral from a GP?? Haha I am so clueless when it comes to medical stufff.....I havent even seen a doc this pregnancy yet.

6-10 weeks....hmmm, I am 8 weeks, I wonder if I will be able to get an appointment in time?

Would I get any of the $120 back from medicare?

Aw you lucky thing.

Geez, you'd think I would know all this being on baby number 4 and all:laughing:

Do you reckon it's worth it? I could just find out at the 20 week scan really....they normally give a weeks/days age.

I really just want to know whether I belong in the October or November thread;)

Frenchstar, I'm in the same situation - I know when we BDd but I also know that both my scans so far put us at 3 days later than that - the doctor says it is because you don't necessarily conceive on the day you 'do it'. It can all happen up to 72 hours after - which is why they say the morning after pill has to be taken as soon as possible but definitely within 72 hours.

Yes, I was thinking that we could have conceived as late as day 18 or 19.

So are you saying that you think your scans are accurate to when YOU think you conceived?

Kewe

the scans are usually more accurate at around 6-10wks

although in saying that, my scans put me back at least a week, my last pregnancy, at my second scan at 7wks put me just about 2wks behind, cause going by lmp I was due the 10th, my second scan at 7wks put me as being due the 22nd

which doesn't really make sence, cause how can you get a :bfp: when you aparently were just ovulating going by the second scan, but in saying that it was twins, but even then still it doesn't make sence

Hmmm, maybe I will just wait....it doesnt really matter when I am due....ACTUALLY, if I want to go to the birth centre, it does matter! Hmmmm, ok, I am convinced now, thanks guys:D

2 weeks difference G? Thats alot....

yeah your telling me, and the stupid hospital went by the second scan date, rather than the first, god know's why:confused:, with all my other pregnancies its only been a week out

As Gizzy was saying, the scan that is done between 6 and 10 weeks is the most accurate. When I had mine I though I was 7 weeks 6 days but they put me back to 7 weeks 2 days. That isn't a great deal but it was enough to make me go - ahh, hang on a minute, I just couldn't have conceived that day!!

As for getting a :bfp: when you were technically ovulating - that's exactly what happened to me. When I went to the doctor with lmp, postive tests and scan combined, she informed me that my BFP must have been only 2 or 3 days after ovulation - that is about 12 days before my period was due. And it was a 'use 5 days before period test', that should have been the first warning to me that it was twins....it all made sense once I found out.
