Pregnyl is hcg, that your body converts to progesterone. It'll just help things a long a little, don't panic. I had it this time instead of the usual Crinone and I think that's why it worked...

:wave:Ains ....Pregnyl is a HGC...that you will inject...it depends on what stage of your cycle you are...they will use it to help trigger ovulation or after transfer or sometimes IUI to help support the embies for pregnancy? Hope this helps....

Yeah, it is usually 36 hours before collection, or just before and then after transfer. I'd ring and just ask them why you need to take it now. I forgot you have not had your EPU yet.

Another question.....
I know its an injection but is it the same as my puregon??? In the pen???
oh god..............:(
Hi Ains,
I just ran down to my fridge to check mine out. Mine is a different type/brand but I'm guessing its v similar (both are the trigger shot). Mine is an injection but it isnt in the pen. I remember trying it out this morning and it was easy to use and goes in easier than the pen (you know how the pen kind of winds down). I'm guessing the pregnyl will be v similar :hugs:

Whenever I have had Pregnyl you have to draw it up into a syringe then inject it. You use one needle (a large bore sucky one) to draw up the liquid and inject into the powder, then draw up the solution. Then you change to the sharp injecty needle, swab your tummy, and inject it. It is very very easy, the hardest bit it breaking the tops off the bottles.

So is the needle as easy as the puregon pen?? Cause i think it is a really easy needle to take!
Can you tell i hate being unprepared??? :o
Thank you all for your responces!

Yeah, pretty much. It's just a little more preparation. Don't panic about asking too many questions lol - it's how we all learn.
Hi Ains, I'm doing pregnyl twice during my TWW this time. I've used it for trigger before.
It is not really like the pen and it might seem a bit complex when you are shown but it's easy in the end.
Your clinic will give you some little vials of powder and some little vials of sterilised water. They will give you a syringe and two needles. You break the little vials and add the water to the powder. As Erinsmummy said you use two needles, one that looks thick and scary to put the water into the powder and then into the syringe. Don't get concerned with the size of the one to mix the pregnyl, it wont go anywhere near your skin :). Then you change to the skinny needle to pop it in your tummy.
It is perhaps a little harder than the pen but no biggie once you've done it.
It sounds like you are having it to trigger your ovulation so they can pick up your eggies. :yelclap: They have always asked me to do it exactly 36 hours before egg pick up.
Some of us are given pregnyl as support during the TWW as well.
God luck with it - make the nurses show you exactly how much you need to have and what you have to do so you are clear and you'll be fine.
Love Asha
Hi Ains
I was put on the pregynal as well. My first bt showed low LH levels (sometime apparently the syneral works really well). In 2004 they did not test this. I was happy because I understand it improves egg quality.
So the pregynal will be in the form of a syringe (dont freak you will be fine) you have to mix it, suck up the liquid and add it to the power and then draw it up and inject. you will not be taking as much as you would if you were having the "trigger" its a really small amount you will have this daily, until epu. I think I was on puregon 150 and pregynal for about 10 days before trigger and then 36 hours epu.
The "trigger" will already be mixed for you and a larger amount.
remember to drink heaps of water cause it can also lead to over stimulation.
best of luck - you will be fine!!!!:flowerz::bee::flowerz:

Hi,
I've been told to take pregnyl 1500units 3 days past IUI and then three days after that and then three days after that.
I never got around to asking why as I was just in awe of having IUI. I was blown away as this is the closest we have come to concieving since Nov 07.
