Can someone confirm for me the way dates are worked out in pregnancy:

If your period was due today and you have a 4 week cycle, does that make you 4 weeks pregnant? Or are you 2 weeks pregnant since it's 2 weeks since you actually conceived?

Yep you would be 4 weeks pregnant today cause they base your dates on the first day of your last cycle.

How far along you are pregnant is worked out from the start of your last period, therefore you would be 4 weeks pregnant :) Are congrats in order??

They usually work it out from the first day of your last period so say if the first day of your last period was 15 of feb than you would be 1 month 4 days pregnant today.

I don't know why they do it like this as technically you usually ovulate and get pregnant around seven to ten days after your period stops.

Yeah I think so....but as you can see from my other thread I have had some light bleeding (before I did the test) so am a little hesitant ATM.

I thought I was having an early period and had told my DH that I was going on a lingerie shopping spree to console myself that I wasn't pregnant :laughing:

Now it looks like it might be back to the good ole maternity bras...
