Hi yeah lots of threads today LOL I think I will be going 2 avent bottles, but have NO idea what size bottle or teat. The small bottles come with newborn teats the medium come with 1month+ & the large ones come with 3month+ teats. So does this mean u use the small 4 newborn, medium 4 1 month+ then go 2 large after 3 months? Or can u mix & match?
Also does anyone here use the avent bottle warmer? is it anygood? I dont want 2 use the microwave to heat milk. thanks:thumbsup:

I love the Avent bottles and used the teats to the recommended ages on the packets. Worked for me. As for the Avent bottle warmer - I have one. Please dont waste your money . It takes forever to warm a bottle up. You would be better off using a pan with boiling water to heat the bottle if you dont want to use a microwave.

Have you had your baby yet? If not, I recommend waiting until bub gets here. If you want to be prepared, just get a couple of bottles, and a few different brands of teats. Then try them out.

Your baby will probably feed better with one type. I personally use pigeon wide neck cross cut teats, but I know some babies can only use avent or tommee tippee teats.

The small bottles won't last you long. Your baby will grow out of them very soon so don't go overboard with them.

Also keep in mind that you can often switch and change between many of the bottles and teats - that is the sizes are standard so you can put a pigeon teat on an avent bottle and so on. So if your baby doesn't like the avent teat you can buy different teats on the avent bottles.

Like some of the others said it's good to just get a couple of the type you want and see how bub goes with it. We started on avent and for our bub they were terrible. Then we tried tommee tippee before settling on Nuk. She took to that teat straight away and 6 months later all is still good. We just use the coffee plunger cotainer with boiling water to heat our bottles with. Good Luck

I used the Avent bottles but hated the teats so used Tommee Tippee teats on them, I found that was fine. The Avent tents just flowed too fast and went everywhere.

I've used Avent bottles and didnt have a problem with them my son took to them straight away.

How ever I did find them to be expensive 2 teats can cost about $8, in saying that they do wash well and I only had to replace the teats when I needed larger ones, but sometimes I've just made the holes bigger. I use to live in a remote area and didnt always have access to shops.:)

Tommee tippee is the best!! I really like their bottles. I have avent too, they are OK but sometimes they leak and get over everything!! I use the multiflow teats for Avent, they flow however much your baby drinks. Not really good for under 6mths though i found. How old is your bub?

The tommee tippee one is really nice and soft And DS really likes it the most. It is the most shaped and life like like a nipple, so i think thats why he likes it.

I wouldn't waste your money on a bottle warmer! They are a pain in the buttt! They take ages to heat up and when you have a sooky baby that is screaming for their bottle, it isn't a great idea!

Not sure if you want to try but maybe you could get your baby to drink bottles at room temperature? I got DS into that and it is sooo much easier!! He even eats his food at room temp now!!

Yeah most brands do. The Avent ones just flow out. If you have a windy baby, you should probably switch to a peristaltic teat. I use pigeon, but there are many brands out there.

This works well for us too. It really helps if your bub will especially when out and about or if its a hot day. DD will drink it cold on a hot day no probs. We found the air flow with the NUK teats fantastic. It just shoots straight back into the bottle away from bub. She never has any wind/colic issues at all. She is now 7 months so we've switched from the small to the medium flow teat for milk. And the bottles have cool pics on them too. Not that it matters! ;)

yeah about the room temp thing, its really helpful out and about. I use the tommee tippees out and they have a formula container that sits in the bottle so when your ready you just pop the formula in. I will see if i can find a link so you know what im talking about!! lol

heres the link

5 months, so I think slow flow teats will be needed? yeah I think I might try 2 do room temp especially if the warmers take ages! Do u use the tommee tippee closer to nature or PUR bottles? gah Im so confused maybe I should wait til 6 months & just use a sippy cup?

oh wow just saw the powder dispensing bottle! cool! how hard is it 2 clean? or does the little powder jar just come out?

Fuchsia!

the little plastic jar bit comes out. Super easy to clean!! I have a few of them and because i have Cooper having room temp bottles i just put them next to my bed and then i put the right amount of water in the bottle and the right amount of formula in the jar thingy and that way i don't have to get up out of bed!!!

Yes i am lazy :p!!!

hehe im lazy 2 LOL so do u just shake it 2 mix?

Fuchsia!

Its just a seperate container that fits inside the bottle, when you are ready to use it you just pull it out and pour the formula in then screw the lid back on and shake it

oh ok, but isnt that the same as a powder dispenser? LOL like same amount of effort 2 have a regular bottle with water in it, powder dispenser with formula then just mix it together when bub is ready?

I guess it takes up less room than the powder dispenser tho if u go out etc .
