I'm new to the NT, been wondering how to go about meeting new people and finding friends for my little girl to play with (2yrs). Are there any playgroups or activities in the outer area's that anybody can recommend? I'm living near to Coolalinga for now.

Hi there, we moved from Darwin 3mths ago but lived on the RAAF Base at Winnellie.
I'm not sure what's out your way but Palmerston is a thriving place with mums n kiddies.

Hey - i havent specifically looked up the Darwin thread for ages, so seemed to have missed this one! Welcome! to both of you!

i think there's a playgroup at humpty doo and one at freds pass - the school near there. Don't quote me!!

im in Palmerston - there's always the playshak - underneath the palmo cinema - THE HUB. i think it's only open till 2 most days. always mums there! Not sure, it looks great, but my dd is 14 months, and for me so far there hasn't been enough motivation at this age. We have been a couple of times, but maybe more later...

There is often Mums hanging out of a morning at MARLOWS LAGOON - a great spot for a picnic - bottom of palmo - town back road end (tiger brenan) 2 age appropriate play equipment things shade depending on the time of day, loos close.

DD and i go on thursdays to Mainly Music, run by the Salvo's 9.30 till 11ish, a 1/2 hr of singing etc, and the rest morning tea and playtime etc. I'm not especially religious and i think it's ok, there is minor reference to God tho.

Most schools seem to have a playgroup at some time.

And The Palmerston Library - tue and Thurs i think have story / song time, and do a story / play time in different parks in the dry. Just pop in and they will be happy to help!

well, feel free to look up my posts to c who i am, and if you like.. make contact!!

Oh, and Sanctuary Lakes in palmo is very nice, well shaded play ground, well used, quite new, but no loo's, and i think the bubblers water is off atm too. i guess it's to stop 'campers...' directions - left at howard springs lightsfirst right thru 'suburbia' 1st roundabout right, and it's opposite next bigish roundabout, sorry i dont know the street. Once there there's an easyier way to palmo centre, so look it up b4 heading out!

hm - TMI???

Good Luck!! :flowerz:
