View Full Version : Washing to get Nappy working???
I am told that I need to wash my MCN's at least twice before they will work properly...as in not leak when worn and be more absorbent.
Must be true, as I only washed DD's Bubblebub once and she wore it for one hour today and when I fed her wee leaked onto my clothes from it.
Do you think that after a few more tries with it after washing more it will stop doing this?
It looked so cute on and she loved it I think, more comfy for her.
Hope my other ones I get don't do this everytime too.
They recommend washing before use for a reason, they should be right in a few more washes.

Yup- got to wash all the fabric starch, natural oils etc out of the fabrics before they reach peak absorbancy ;)
Woo Hoo Ange!! :yelclap: Ya got some cloth!! :D
Yep - as the others said, the more you wash them the more absorbant they become. I bought one recently that said it takes about 8-10 washes to reach max absorbancy.
Also, was it done up tight enough and fitting around her legs? The nappy may have moved a bit.

I thought this only applied to nappies that have Bamboo in them , am I wrong? or does hemp nappies also need to be washed a few times to reach max absorbancy?

Hemp, bamboo, cotton. They all have to be washed between 5-10 times to reach peak absorbancy. You can use them between washes, but just dont expect them to be as absorbant or last as long as a fully washed in nappy. Hemp is a big one for it due to the natural oils in hemp!
