I have been a member of bub hub for a couple of months and I have a 2 year old boy who has recently been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder and given a "working," diagnosis of autism. In other words, nobody really wants to diagnose him becasue he is under 3 but his paed has finally recognised that with no diagnosis- you get no treatment! I have a 6 year old daughter, very NOT autistic and a 10 mth old daughter who seems fine so far but time will tell.:fingerscrossed:

I am feeling a bit left out of this section because I have a special need child but I can't really join the chat because I don't know any of you or your situations and while I have tried reading the chat thread it's far too looooong to follow!:(

lately there haven't been any other threads- people pop up occassionally but then retreat back into bub hub. How many of us special needs parents are there?? What are your stories??? Please come out and introduce yourself so I can stop feeling like such an outsider!:) Thanks...... hope to hear from you!!

Hello, sorry u feel like an outsider. Lets make u welcome!!!I'm Stacey, I am an Early Childhood Teacher who has spent alot of time as a Director of large Long daycare centres, worked as a nanny and am currently a part time night filler at Woolies.

I have a 22 month old called Megan with a Genetic Metabolic Condition known as Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation 1a. Basically she has a faulty enzyme that links her sugars to her proteins.

She has many medical issues as listed in my signature, We have spend around 8 months in hospital, but otherwise she is a very happy little girl. Very responsive, easy going little girl. We have been to hell and back with her, nearly losing her on a few occasions but I am happy to say we have been out of hospital for 8 months straight now, so things are going well.

We have 5 teams at the hospital, We have Speech, OT and Physio that come to the house, and have Royal Institute for the Deaf and Blind that come weekly for hearing therapy.

Life is VERY busy but we have adjusted to having a child that is just a little different to the norm, she is unique and we are proud!!!

I know processing disorders can be very tough as is Autism, It's a long road!!!

not my fault at all, sorry peta is gas bagger

hi i am linda

my son was born with a large cyst in his brain. this has stopped another part of his brain from forming. at 5 days old his cyst was operated on and punctured. he is almost 7 months now and doing really well. maybe a little behind on his milestones but that doesn't really matter.

so pretty much for the time being gordy is going really well, but most likely the older he gets the wider the space between his progress and normal progress will grow, if that makes sense.

Gordy's condition is called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which translates to he is missing the central part of his brain that connects the two halves together.

please just jump in ( i know we can be a little overwhelming, but that is mainly peta) but we are friendly, and enjoy meeting new people. and don't worry about catching up on the thread, it will take forever, and as for following, well i have been in that thread for a while now but i am useless at remembering stuff ( if you seen my earlier posts today you will understand) and i almost always ask them to explain or tell me why again, so you can either jsut wait for me to ask, or help me not to look like a dill a little and ask for me!

Thank you thank you thank you:hugs: I'm sure you are all friendly and I hope I didn't imply otherwise, it's just intimidating when you kind of stand on the fringe of a group who all obviously know each other!!

To all of you who have replied, thankyou. (Hope more people will!) I really hope that I didn't offend anybody, certainly didn't mean to imply that you guys talk too much:) I'm getting very addicted to bub hub, my dh is getting very irritated that we keep going over our downloads on our internet plan. It's fascinating but very very sad hearing your stories. :hugs: to all of you and thank you for making me feel welcome!!
