OK - I think we started this problem AND I think I have some ideas on finishing it BUT as always love the opinions that you guys have, so here it is...

...A couple of weeks ago it suddenly started to get cold through the night - mickayla would wake up and as she was so cold I brought her into bed with us. This has always worked OK as a one off - problem is that I did it 2 nights (still OK) - then DH did it the following two nights (I didn't get a chance to talk to him about it) - by then it was a bit of a habit - then she stayed with Nanna and Poppy while I was away - similar set up Nanna loves to sleep with her which normally is fine, sort of like Nanna privalege, then I have come back but now she is sick cold/flu

I am waiting until she gets over this and then will try persisting with the (dare I say it) controlled crying approach.

It has become a very solid habit for her and I can tell she sort of sighs with a 'phew' I got my way kind of sigh when I pick her up - Not looking forward to breaking this but with a new baby due end June I feel like I had better get on top of it.

So what do you think????

You gotta do what ya gotta do.

I don't like it, but sometimes it just has to be done.

You can always a modified CC. I did with my boy when he was around the same age.

Put the kettle on and away you go!!

Thanks guys - it is not going to be pleasant (great idea about just resigning to it and putting the kettle on!)

I think it would be even worse (obviously) if I still had this problem plus teeny weeny bubba

Mickayla was actually really sick (refulx and colic) when she was a bubba - she was just past twelve weeks before I got any rest at all so that makes me even more apprehensive

I think I will try this weekend!

Better read up on some of the CC threads before then :)

Jessie - Harry was almost 4mths before we got any rest so i know EXACTLY what you mean ! Id too be a little worried with a newborn on the way & would be wanting to solve any possible issues while i could.
Another reason why im sorta apprehensive about another babe just yet !
Anyways again good luck !
Have a nice cuppa :D

Thank you for asking - you thoughtful thing you

It well well as it happens (phew!)

I had a talk to DH to let him know that if he heard M through the night, I was with her and to try to go back to sleep. I find that one of the hardest things about letting them 'cry' through it is that I am worried about it keeping DH up as he starts work at 5:30/6 - anyway he was fine with it all so I was ready to do battle!

Turns out that she cracked a narna quite early (around 9pm) rather than her normal go to sleep OK and wake up cracking it. So I adamantly told her "No thank you" - I explained to her that this was her bed and she needs to go to sleep.

I used really definate terms and body language (including sign for no) and she really seemed to understand. After about half an hour, maybe even less she lay herself down, grumbled a little and went to sleep.

There has been a few tears through the night but nothing too much - so it would seem all OK. We will see!

I have also made a point of congratulating her in the morning for staying in her own bed "what a good big girl" type of thing - truly I think she gets it :)

I'm glad it went well Jessie. Turns out our girls must have decided to chuck a wobbly at the same time last night (how sweet  ) but unfortunately ours lasted a lot longer :( Never mind, it's the crackdown we had to have.

Hope she keeps up the good work for you
