hi girls,
Today i went to my 24 week antenatal appointment and when i got there i tested my urine i read the results i had no glucose no blood but had +1 for protein.I had to double check with the midwife because i have been checking my blood pressure every day nearly and it has been fine.I have been assigned a midwife to make visits twice a week to check my bp and urine and i have to goto my doctors once a week.Im quite worried as the same thing happend with #1 and ended up with pre-eclampsia but that was diagnosed at 32 weeks.Im only 24 weeks and if i develop pre-eclampsia it can come on really quick and then will be faced with delivering ealry.Has any 1 ever had protein in their urine and not had high blood pressure then been fine or is most cases where there is protein you will develop high bp.Sooooo confused:confused:

It could be a false positive. This happened to me. I had PE with my first child and with my second at about 35 weeks I got 3+ protein reading and they went into a bit of spin. My BP was fine, I had a scan, blood tests all fine and no PE for that pregnancy. My next protein test was just traces of protein but that was normal for me. See how you go next visit but if your BP is fine and you have no other symptoms of PE at this stage I don't think I would be too concerned yet.

Just make sure they keep an eye on things, ask about blood tests if you get another protein reading. Hope that helps and best wishes to you:)

Jaclyn I am not a doctor but it sounds like it could of been a false reading. My Doctor told me, and sorry if this is TMI, but if there is some discharge around the vagina when you pass the wee, this can affect your protein reading as the muscous shows up as protein it that makes sense. It doesn't sound like your Midwife was worried. I only worry when they worry if you know what I mean. If she had any serious concerns you would of been whipped off for a series of tests, maybe even a scan or admitted to hospital.

Although you can get PE in subsequent pregnancies your odds are a lot lower. I only had it quite severely in No1 but not for 2 or 3. I do have high blood pressure now and am on medication for that but I think that is mainly stress related.

Best of luck with your pregnancy:)

The Ob was not extremely worried because i hadnt had the high bp that comes with it but i am being seen by a midwife 2 times a week and going to doctor once a week.I have an appointment on 26th april and have a scan booked in for then they were humming and haring about doing it but left it for then. She said PE can come on quite quickly and the fact i had it with my first pregnancy makes me at an increased risk(and i am diabetic). They didnt do any blood tests cause i only had it done about 2 weeks ago( had gone in because i had symptoms of high bp).I havnt been too well (last night had upper gastric pain diahrea and nausea)and she said if i get any other symptoms come in straight away.So hopefully nothing else developes:fingerscrossed:

You may just have had an infection/bug. I was to donate blood recently and was told i couldnt as i was recovering (so my blood test said!) from a virus!

Well i had my midwife visit today to check my baby heart beat/Urine/Blood pressure all was fine except now i had between 1+ and 2+ in there and have no idea why. I have no infections because i rang up for my results and they wernt concerned with anything.
