Hello Girls

I hope you are all well.
I have been trying to conceive since September 2005 with no luck

I use to be on this site around 2006 not sure if anybody remembers me I use have the user name Helona.

I first embarked on IVF in 2006 having 1 embie fertilised in 2 cycles 2006 at Melb IVF -both :bfn:

I then rested with a naturopath with no luck of conceiving

3rd cycle 2007 was with Moansh IVF I had 11 follicles at my US 5 days later at EPU there were only 2 follicles - got 2 eggs did not fertilise :(. That wasn't enough they tore my cervix & had to have stitches took a very long time to get over that taumatic ordeal.

Tried a naturopath to help me recover did not concieve naturally.

4th cycle 2008 with Monash IVF new FS at US had 5 follicles. EPU 5 eggs. They could only use 1 egg which did not fertilise. I was told by FS to look for an egg donor :crying:

I went & saw a naturopath who has helped out about a few couples I know get pregnant.
He said he can help me with my egg quality & to give it 3 months.

I need to know if anybody else has been told they had bad quality eggs & ended up having a baby.

Hi Angels,

Welcome back !! I haven't been on bubhub for long, but have been a regular "lurker" for a long time - just reading everyones stories and following peoples progress. I'm SOOOOO glad I finally joined up and feel so luck to have the support of the lovely people on here.

I'm so sorry to hear of your heartache trying to concieve....it really sucks doesn't it !?!?!

I have had 10 IVF cycles over the past two years - all resulting in BFN's :gloomy:. During my Stim cycles I had "usually" had pretty good results - getting between 7-10 fertilised Embies. My last frozen transfer in December was cancelled as the three embryo's they thawed didn't make it.

Last month I had another full stim cycle, which I felt awful throughout (I'd been fine other times) I had 13 eggs, 10 fertilised and NONE made it to transfer. They kept them going until day 6, but they all deteriated each day until they were so fragmented that there were none to transfer - I was DEVESTATED. I'd felt so sick after EPU and I can handle it "not working" but was shattered to not even have a transfer or any hope.

FS and the scientists said that the bad result was due to "poor egg quality" that has never been an issue before. We are going to try a whole different plan next time (May hopefully) - I'm having a Flare cycle as FS thinks maybe the shorter time frame might keep my eggs in better shape - I am having injections instead of synarel spray and bumped up to 300mg of Purogen. I am trying to lose a few kilo's and am thinking about trying a naturopath too. I've heard varying reports about success with natural therapies.

Would you consider talking to your clinic about changing your cycle around and trying something different - ie. an antagonist or flare cycle. Some lovely lady on here (I forget who, sorry !!) suggested that sometimes individuals eggs don't respond well to certain cultures that the labs use ? I am going to ask my FS about this also....although I "Think" they only use one type of culture, so probably can't change !

Good luck hun, I really hope you find some answers and that your BFP is just around the corner.

My biggest frustration at the moment is the waiting - I've got to have one full natural cycle, then a pill cycle, then start Flare - so my cancelled transfer was in Feb and won't be able to start next try until May.....Sooooo annoying !!!!!:hair:

Keep in touch and try to stay positive - easier said than done I know.

Take care,:hugs:
Sally-Ann xx

**** Child mentioned ****

Hi Angels,

I'm so sorry you've had such a rough run.

I've done two down-reg stim cycles and ended up with nothing to freeze the first time, and one low-grade embie the second time.

My FS is Lyndon Hale, and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He does have a pretty lengthy waiting list, but I am told that's because he doesn't take on too many patients at one time, unlike some FS.

This means that he is available to talk on the phone if you have any questions, and he has let me do back to back stims because he knows how much I hate sitting on my hands doing nothing!

I have PCOS and apparantly down-reg cycles are typically the best cycle for my situation, but since I haven't been getting the "typical" response, Lyndon thinks we need to go with a shorter cycle such as an antagonist, so that the stimulation phase is shorter, and will hopefully produce better quality eggs.

It seems that even though I am 31, I only produce one or two good eggs out of about 15, but I do have a five year old little boy, so I guess he was one of my good eggs!

Next week we are transferring our one frozen embie, but if it doesn't work or doesn't thaw, I'm going straight onto my next stim cycle.

By the way, I have heard from somewhere that having pregnyl during the stimulation phase can improve egg quality. This is something I'm going to discuss with Lyndon if I have to do another cycle.

I hope you can find some answers and that things are a bit smoother sailing from here.

Lisa

Hi Girls

joshismyboy: I have endo I have already had one lap 2 years ago & it was minor. I hope your little icy embie thaws out nicely for you :fingerscrossed:. I seem to have bad quality eggs.My naturopath has given me herbs to help me improve my egg qualities & has put my uterus back in to its place

My update

:) I have an appointment with Lyndon Hale on the 9th of April 11:00am. I can't wait. I am little anxious aswell as excited.

I have requested my lab & history notes from Monash to be sent to him - he already has the Melb notes.

I haven't been sleeping well lately. I have been having nightmares every night & waking up screaming & then crying

Last night I was trying to convince myself that I may never have a child of my own but I can not get it out of my head that I still want to have a child.

My DH does not want to accept it that we may never have a child.

Good Luck to all you girls on this rollercoaster ride that doesn't want to stop.

Hi Girls

Hi, Lyndon Hale was one of the two FS's recommended to me by a friend who underwent IVF. He has a very good reputation. My friend did say he can be a little rushed sometimes due to being in high demand - the other was Jim Tsaltas.

I hope he can help you to have some success :)

When I was first in Melb IVF I saw Jim Tsaltas he was a great - they only reason I left was because of the distance but at the end of the day I rather travel & get some embies than none.

Dr Lyndon Hale was recomended to me by an embroligist from Melb IVF. My SIL use to work for Melb IVF & Monash IVF - she is no longer there but she still has some friends there. They are the ones who said Lyndon Hale would be the best due to my circumstances.

Good Luck with getting a little miracle
