i am going to a wedding in may and im not sure what to wear, it says to dress formal, the girl getting married is greek so im thinking it will be a big wedding, its in a nice church for the ceremony.

i dont really know the people, dp is friends with the groom.

anyway i have only been to one small wedding b4, and im unsure what to wear. im looking forward to getting dressed up.

but my main colours i look good in are red and black!! and i have heared from people that its not the done thing to wear them colours to weddings..!! some for supersticious reasons aswell... and its pretty obvious you dont wear white either..:p

so yeah not sure what to wear, also do you and partner kinda wear similar colours or atleast try to match?

Yup white and cream are no no's for a wedding, if its formal then dark colours are acceptable.

If its in a church (I THINK, you might have to check this out) you can't be showing your shoulders or knees... so a dress that is knee length or longer and wear a cardi or wrap to cover your shoulders in the church.

I don't think colour is too important these days, but wear something appropriate of course, not clubbing sexy or anything like that.

Dressing alike isn't a prob, if that's what you want to do its fine. (and very cute :))

If you are still unsure you can contact the RSPV number and ask them.

Wow, I never knew that about the dress etiquette for church weddings. How interesting!!

I would wear something pretty but not too sexy. You can wear any colour you like, black pants/skirt and a red top would be fine I would think.

I don't think its all church weddings, just Greek orthodox church weddings, but yeah I'm not 100% sure about it.

IMO I believe it to be a bit 'old fashioned' to not wear red or black to weddings....by by yesterday:wave:

How confident are you?

If your the sort of woman that is able to strut her stuff with confidence and pizzazz then I say go for it!!

:: according to the chinese, it's Very!! good luck to wear red at a wedding and that's just the bride!!

the last wedding I went to I wore black skirt and the one before that was red and black, wear what's comfortable - nothing worse than being uncomfortable through the ceremony and then the reception.

wear what looks great on you. but yeah not white:laughing:

white is out but all other colours no problem. Greek weddings are often very large and quite elaborate. Formal is slightly tricky as for some people it means tux for blokes for others it is a suit so you may want to check that. For girls, long dress - more formal than you would wear to a cocktail function,

The "don't wear black" rule is outdated.

Personally, I think you'd look good in black. More than red. Red is a bit too 'HEY LOOK AT ME!' especially if it's formal (and therefore full-length). That's a lot of red.

I'd want to do my best to not draw away from the bride... black will blend in suitable, it will hide and bumps better, and going from those photos of you in the photoshop thread (and one that I made over), I think you'd look better in black than in red. :)

I think they're pretty... but I think they're perhaps cocktail... rather than formal...

Hmm, I had a lil look, I think something similar to the dress on this Page (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-CELEBRITY-STYLE-Designer-Rhinestone-DRESS-Sz-10-AU_W0QQitemZ300206949079QQihZ020QQcategoryZ55572QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) would be lovely, as its a Greek style dress, but obviously not that colour and a lil longer maybe.

That black one looks lovely as well!

I have been to a few greek weddings in Adelaide but I have never been to the church on Franklin St so I don't have any advice for you there.

You don't really have to go to an extreme but it has to be dressy so even a nice cocktail dress will be okay. Some people go over the top and some don't so it will probably be a mixture especially since it is only one side that is greek. It is fine to wear black, that tradition is long gone.

As for the dresses that you have shown, I really liked the one you missed out on and I like the last one that you showed.
