Was just wondering what age do you start to brush their teeth???

Ryan is 1 in a few weeks and so far only has 4 top teeth and 4 bottom teeth, should i be starting now??

Thanks!

I started when Cj got his 1st tooth. It's a good idea to get them used to it early. However start him now. Just so you know it's tricky!! but he'll get used to it!! :p

Summer will be one in a week & i started brushing her few teeth that she has when she first got them...it is tricky...she squirms around n wants to do it herself but i think the more you do it the more they get used to it.

The bath is a good idea. Get the toothpaste for babies, so it doesn't matter if he swallows it! :)

Here is the Colgate website. I used this baby toothpaste for DD as early as 4months even though it says for 12 months. http://www.colgate.com.au/app/Colgate/AU/OralCare/ProductRecommender/KidsProducts.cvsp

A dental assistant's view here!

It's not a bad idea for Mums to start brushing their baby's gums so they get used to the feeling of having a toothbrush in their mouth from the very start.

Also brush your children's teeth for them until they are about 7 years old as they don't have the manual dexterity to do it themselves properly.

Sorry Kazza I forgot to mention that I still help DD to brush her teeth. She is 2.7 and still very wonky.

But we have changed her to an electric toothbrush as she finds it more fun now.:smiliedance:

I just edited my post to be more specific. When I said "brush their teeth til they're about 7" I meant years old not months.

I was advised to use a washer over my index finger to bush my boys gums right from birth. This is supposed to get them used to having something in their mouth and helps to freshen up their mouth right from the start, I wouldnt use toothpast though.
