When I had my 19wk ultrasound it was picked up that my babys ventricles are slightly larger than "normal" meaning that she has mild ventriculomegaly. I was referred to a specialist who did another ultrasound to confirm this. The specialist then told DH and I a whole list of things that it could possibly be, ranging from it turning out to be totally fine, or the baby needing a shunt after birth. He also mentioned that we would need to look into it further ASAP because if there was something seriously wrong with bub then we would need to "consider our options".

As you could imagine we were both really upset and didn't know what to think. I had an MRI yesterday but we wont find out the results until next Tuesday when we meet with the specialist again.

Has anyone ever been through this before or know of someone who has? I've done a search on the net and found out some more info about it, but I would really like to hear from anyone who's gone through what I am right now.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

my friend was 6 months before she had her first scan, she was 16 and hiding her pg, at her scan they told her her baby had all these problems, she had to go get a 3d scan and there was nothing wrong with him.

hope it all works out for you to:fingerscrossed:

I'm sorry that you are going through this! How awful. To give you some hope- ultrasound has a high percentage of giving false positive results- this means that they're not accurate- I have heard a lot of stories where mothers have been told there is something wrong and there's not. Not always the case I know, but mostly it is!

Hugs to you.

i know what it is right when they give you a false result on a ultrasound.
