Just wondering as I know a few people got emailed from a photographer in Adelaide offering photos and a free shoot.

She canceled on me today 10 minutes before we were supposed to meet, it's a really hot day and I was already waiting. I am quite irritated especially considering the fact she also cancelled on another bubhub member last week with a few minutes notice.

Just wondering if anyone actually got photos, or if anyone else got canceled on??

I could've gone to the Baby Expo if she bothered to let me know earlier. :banghead:

I met up with her last week at the Botanical Gdns and she put the photos up on Flicker (if that is what it is called).

She isn't really a photographer. She is just someone who likes taking photos. I thought she might of been doing some courses, but she's not.

The photos were nice. The only problem is that they are a small picture quality photo so they aren't really good for enlarging.

It wasn't too bad though considering that it was free.....

Not with me, but she did with another member. Hopefully she shows up to that.

I won't be organising another time. I got Tia ready, drove 25 mins down there only to recieve a message 10 min before we are suppposed to meet when Im already there. It's completely unprofessional. Not only that, she emailed me at 8:30 this morning saying "see you soon!"

Pfft.

(Hope your shoot goes well though :P:))

I realise it's free and I don't mean to sound ungrateful but she emailed me offering the shoot and she could have at least given me half an hours notice so I didn't get all the way there.

I understand where you are coming from. I would of been upset as well.

I was just letting you know about my experience with her.

Oops sorry if that sounded rude towards you!! I didn't mean for it too, I'm just in a grumpy mood now hehe.

Thats a shame you didn't get pics you could blow up. Glad she actually took them though! It would have been fun I reckon.

so is it worth actually getting the photos.

im also meeting her at the botanical gardens. i was under the impression that she was getting a portfolio together and that is why she was offering free shoots.

what size is the largest you can get the photos before they look bad?

Ladies, Im sorry but be careful. Shes not a professional photograper.... so why does she want the pics?? Dont forget she has a copy so what does she do with them ?

I just find it a little strange that a total random wants to take pics for free.....

Yeah mine is now too Kachow especially since she cancelled on at least 2 ppl.

The photos she took, I have taken much better. When I saw the website today I'm glad I didn't get photos of Tia done I think I would have been disappointed. She had cute models and didn't do anything unique or different with them like a photographer would.

I haven't got them developed yet but they are a really tiny file size. I don't think you could go bigger than a 6x4 (standard size) but I could be wrong.

She is a nice young girl, if you meet her you would know that she isn't doing anything dodgy. She just wants to get into this field, so she just wants the practice. That is why the photos aren't anything special, she hasn't got the proper equipment or knowledge.

I wouldn't suggest going if you are going to be easily disappointed.

Thanks mazzie for the compliment. The models (on the 1st page) are my son and niece.:D

Don't worry about it. She isn't a friend of mine. I was a bit skeptic as well but I thought that I would go and check her out and if I didn't like what I saw , I wouldn't of got the photos done. I just thought I would let you all know that she is a very nice, young girl to put all of your minds at ease.

I just got an email from her saying the following:

"I'm emailing to let you all know that I will not be able to do the photoshoots which I have discussed with each of you. This is because I will not have the time because of emergency circumstances. I'm very sorry about this and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to take photos of your children and I was really looking forward to meeting you all, but unfortunatly I will not be able to do so.

Sorry for the inconvienience."

Hope this helps anyone who had sessions planned in the future.

When I started modelling, I did alot of TFP/CD (Time for Print or CD of Images - meaning both model/s and photographer work together for 'free' and exchange the images with both being able to use the images as they wish).. you cannot advertise yourself and get eventually paid work without examples of what you can do. This is also the case for wannabe/newbie photographers, and TFP/CD is a common way to build your portfolio on a low budget.

Also, a few budding photographers I know have mentioned that to apply for a reputable photography course/degree you must include a portfolio with your application. Everyone starts somewhere.

Granted, it is frustrating to not be given ample notice of a cancellation, unless of course the circumstances are extreme. But I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this offer is a hoax.

Just my two cents worth. :D

alot of people who want to get into photography need a portfolio like the other girls said the best way is offering free photos.

at least she emailed the rest of us in advance.

I have done the free photo shoots too, as a photographer that is. I did it so that I could build a portfolio so that I could eventually get into the field as well. Alot of times people don't realize how hard or time consuming it can all be. I have to devote alot of time and effort into doing each shoot.

I have done a few BH'ers as well, even made a best friend from a shoot.

Perhaps she just realized how hard it was and didn't have the time or money. In all honesty you have to be careful with who you let photograph your children. I actually have parents sign a form to allow me to use their photographs. This is a safety percaution for all involved. Perhaps if you have another shoot with someone similar you can have them print out everything so you know who they are and stuff. JMO
