As the title says Do you regulary strip wash your nappies? eg - every 2 mths etc or do you just do them when needed?
I know I need to strip wash my night nappies (2), but was thinking if I should do all my nappies to keep them working well. I've been full time with cloth since after xmas.
What would/do you do?
I just do them when I feel they are ready-
in the 18 months I've been using them I think I've only done them once-
possibly twice on a few of them.

Been using cloth for a year and a half and have only done strip washes when needed- the last one was about a year ago, methinks! Save your water and just do them when you have a problem

I've only done it once in 5.5 years and that was only for 2 specific nappies. I do an occasional extra wash without detergent if things are getting whiffy but that's all. :)

The reason I ask is that I have 2 GK anytimes that I use as my night nappy with the GK bamboo insert and booster. But I have noticed that the Microsuede on both nappies has a yellow tinge and smells really uriney :barf:. I have had no leaks and there are no absorbancy problem as dd2 has them on for over 12hrs. So, I thought maybe they needed a strip wash

Do you wash on hot or cold? I'd do a reeaallly hot wash next time. (I want to say to give them a soak too, but I know that's a MCN no-no :shame::laughing:)
I do a rinse before washing as well- they can't really come out totally clean if they are being washed in wee.

I've only ever done a strip wash once in 19months, and that was inserts only not nappies. I don't think strip washing (with dish washing liquid) is a good thing to do on a regular basis unless it is really needed.
I would give them a wash with one tablespoon of bicarb soda and one tablespoon of white vinegar. Then wash again with nothing added. Hang them out in the sun for a few days or even in the rain will do, so long they are getting UV rays.

Same !
Ive only ever done a strip wash on my inserts after what 18mths of use & that was because i was silly & forgot to reduce my washing liquid in a smaller wash load
I also do the 'leave them in the sun for days' works wonders
