Anyone from London on here? How are you finding the change?

Hiya

Well not from London, but on the edge - born and lived in Amersham (end of Metropolitan line), but also Henley, Kingston, Wimbledon, worked in Croydon and Slough.

OK so far - just will never get used to a hot Christmas!!

I see, so how long have you been over here? Why'd you come over? x

Well, I married an Aussie and he came back to run the family business so that was the main reason but also the fact that we could get a bigger house/better lifestyle, I could be a SAHM, etc. I miss my family like crazy but now, after 3.5 years, it usually coincides with PMT or, at the moment, as it's been a year since we were there I think about htem more. But my mum and dad are coming in May so :smiliedance:.

There's another thread I started in the UK group about why we're all here if you want to have a look at that. Can't do a link at the moment.

Hi Fil

I'm from S.E London, emigrated a little over a year ago now. Miss family and friends but went back for quick trip just after x-mas, not likely to get there again for a few years as building our own house soon.

Moved here for better quality of life, housing, schools, weather, out door activities ect.

Recently had a 14 day stretch of heat from mid 30's to about 40 degrees, that was very hard to cope with but it's finally cooled down.....thank goodness for air con is all I'm going to say

So Fil, are you looking to come over ? Are you in London yourself?

Hi Fil

I am actually from Hastings on the SE coast but moved up to Surrey to be with my now husband. We have been in Australia for almost 16 months now and although I miss my family and some familiarities of England (especially the baby shops now that I need to use them) I love it here.

We came over when my husband (also English) was offered a job here and we haven't really looked back. We lived in the Blue Mountains until 2 weeks ago so we are now experiencing some really hot weather for the first time since we arrived. Ok we had some nice days up there but nothing like Canberra.

Are you already in Australia, if so which state and how long have you been here?

:wave:Hello!

I'm here already, moved over here last July when I was 30 weeks pregnant with my first bub. I married an Aussie, we lived in London together for about 9 years. we've been married for 7. We moved over here for the same reasons as most of you. Bigger house, opportunity to be a SAHM, and ultimately a better childhood for Lucca. I'm lucky in that my mum, dad and brother also came over to live. But still miss my other family loads. I live on the outskirts of Brisbane, Burpengary. Finding it a bit of a chellenge getting used to the suburban lifestyle-especially as I don't drive (yet):o, so making friends is taking time. Finding something like this helps because it opens opportunities for friendship :). How are you guys finding that side of things?

Filmgirlgail - I'm also from Slough, [well, Langley], but I almost never admit it. Claim to be a Londoner!

I've been here one year, came by myself at 33 as I'd broken up from a LTR and had always wanted to settle in Melbourne. I'm loving it here. People keep asking me if I'm going 'home' to have the baby - but I am home. I want to have a happy little Aussie baby, not a moody London hard nut. I can listen to The Now Show on the Radio 4 podcast and read the Guardian online, it's all good. But oh how I miss M&S.

I work with a guy from Amersham. How odd, until last week I had never heard of it.

We are going to the UK to live for 12 months at the end of July. I have no idea what to expect. We won't be in London though - Shrivenham which is near Swindon.

Yep I know Langley - my brother lived there for 13 years until last April - Hampden Road. He's just moved to Lambourn near Hungerford - works at Heathrow.

Glad to hear you're loving it. I know it can be hard with no family around. I listen to Radio 2 when I work on the pc and buy the Weekly Telegraph - there's also a Guardian if you look for it, comes out on a Weds.

Have to go. crying baby
