My 15 week old son has recently learnt how to roll from his back to his stomach and does it every opportunity he can! I am really worried that he is going to do this in his sleep, how bad is it for them to sleep on their stomach and should I be checking him all the time and putting him back onto his back??

Thanks!

You will probably find that the moment you put him back on his back he will roll on to his tummy again.

To be honest, I used to let my DD sleep on her tummy when she did this. I did have a sensor pad under her mattress so I wasn't too worried. It went off once and DD just woke up, so I will never really know if she really stopped breathing and just started again because of the alarm.

Anyway, personally I would leave him. Otherwise you can get sleep positioners to help stop him from rolling over or use a couple of rolled up towels on either end of him.

My DS has been sleeping on his tummy ever since he could roll (about 17 weeks). I worried at first, but if I turned him over, he would be on his tummy again within 5 mins. He loves his tummy, and if he is going to sleep better and longer by doing it, than I am all for it!!! :)

ditto what charliebaby said! My DD started sleeping on her tummy and although it worried me she has kept doing it since! they are old enough to turn their head the side and not suffocate :) If it makes you feel better get a sensor pad or check on him occasionally.

do you wrap him?

You'll probably find he wakes and gets upset if you try and move him and you dont' want him getting used to being repositioned and needing it to get back to sleep.
