Dh and I want to renew our vows on our 10yr wedding anniversary in 2 yrs. But I dont think I want to renew them on the actual day we got marred. Even though the day is special because I married my wonderful dh, the day also holds some negative feelings as well.

My wedding day was more MIL's than mine. The date, venue, dress everything was picked by my MIL . At the time I was 19 and my in laws paid for everything - so I kinda felt like I had to agree with what they wanted.

So, really when I renew my vows it will be MY day. Are there any "rules" when you renew? or is more of a personal decision? any advice would be appreciated.

you could always choose your engagement date
or valentines day?

I originally wanted to get married in April - but October was chosen .

Valentines day would just be the romatic thing to do :bee: - luv that idea!!

We got married at a registry office the day before my 24th birthday so that DH would remember the date. Then we renewed our vows a few months later and joined it with our DS's naming day. The date was totally non significant, more of a date where majority of people could make it.

I also want to elope on our 10 year anniversary (sometime in the year doesn't have to be exact date) and just have a wedding for us and our kiddies. :)

Go and have a day for you guys. :) Dates aren't really that significant it's the meaning behind the ceremony that is. :D
