Does anyone know of a way to help soothe and preferably fix mouth ulcers in a 14 month old. Tashie has been teething now for about a month and all her molars have come through but only through the side of the gum. They have started to move down the gum now and her mouth looks like a war zone with swollen bleeding gums and to make matters worse she has developed ulcers on her tongue and inner cheeks. I know for adults a salt wash would help but I cant see how to help her. I am giving her panadol and nurofen but she is refusing food because of the ulcers more than the teeth I think as most foods are stinging them. I just thought I would see if anyone had any ideas.:detective:

We have been using Seda-gel because for some reason known only to Tash she hates Bonjella. As far as I can tell they both taste the same, horrible. It does help but she is so sore it hurts her to put it on and she fights it really badly.
Cheers for that

Poor little thing.

You can try very balnd foods, that might not sting her mouth. Bonjella (or equivelent) or giveing her ice (in the form of a icypole maybe) to help numb the mouth temporarily.

Maybe a trip to the local chemist to see if s/he has anything to help too.

I hope she heals up soon.

Usually a salt water mouth wash does the trick but i doubt thats very helpful with a bubba .... hrmmmmmz yeah i think a trip to the chemist is the best thing as there may be something that can be used on bubs to help soothe her at least till they heal.
Good luck :)

Probably for a little one all you can use is bonjela and maybe some panadol if the pain gets bad.

Neaby have you ever tried Vitamin B complex supplements? I too get chronic ulcers and a GP recommended this to me as they can be caused by a vitamin B deficiency. It really works. If I am slack and don't take them then the ulcers come back.

Thanks for the tips. My nearest chemist is about 5 hours away but I did ring them hoping they may be able to send me something but they said that there wasnt anything they could offer and that they ONLY lasted 10 days! Obviously that pharmacist never gets ulcers! I will continue with the Seda-gel panadol and cold flannels and iceblocks and hope for her sake they ease up soon!
I will get some vitamin B for my husband as he suffers from then aswell. I never get them so I suppose Im lucky. I have bought some pentavite for Tash but havent been using it so I ll check and see if thats got Vit B in it. She has always been an atrocious eater. So it is a definate possibilty she is low.
Cheers
