Hi there
Cant speak from personal exp. but my sister had her 1st bub there.
She is pregnant again with her second now and thats where she is going to have this one too.
Must be good :yelclap:
I went through the BC for my pregnancy - all the midwives were lovely. Didn't meet one i didn't like. I spent 4 hours labouring in the BC and the midwife was run off her feet with 3 mums giving birth within a couple of hours of each other. I only saw her a couple of times and she forgot to get me gas and all. I got to the BC at 8.30pm and at 12.00am was told the birth centre was closing as the midwife's shift had finished hours ago. (i really wanted an epi so was happy to go to the delivery suite - although i was too late and didn't get one) DD was born an hour later!
I was informed that the birth centre was short staffed at that time (july 04) and that when going into labour it wasn't guaranteed that i would get in there as it may not be open at the time.
Other friends have gone thru the BC and had excellent experiences. Apart from being short staffed and me feeling a little neglected and dissapointed i would do it again. :)

Hi I had my son there 3 months ago, a really positive experience with all the visits, and the midwives i met. But however on the day i went into labour the midwife we got was terrible, no help so much we found out my baby was posterior after 6hrs of pushing and my husband and mum asking if there was any problems and i had to walk down to have an emergency ceasar. My whole experience with the hospital for both my sons was A+++ just the one midwife we had was a problem but the rest of midwives, nurses and surgeons were lovely, caring and helpful

So the birth centre isnt open 24/7???
Ive got my name down for my birth in December, just have to get clearance from an OB to say that Im a low risk pregnancy.
Might be better off staying where I am if the birth centre isnt open 24/7 though (I have to travel quite a decent way to get to the hospital)
