I have asked a few sites (.com) which middle name they prefer to go with Madison and they all say that Madison is way too popular where they live. So Aussie ladies - what do you think? Do you think it is far too overused? How many Madisons do you know? I don't know of any and none of my family and friends do either so I am confused!

Thanks for your thoughts

There are more Madisons/Madelines around now then there were years ago, for sure! Every time I go the shops I hear "Maddy get over here now!" or "Maddy, don't do that!". I always feel so guilty lol.
Having said that, both are lovely names.:D

Hi Dannii,

I think if you love a name you should just go for it. Even if you do meet other Madisons along the way, they will not be the "real" Madison to you IYKWIM.

Since you asked, I can think of 4 Madisons and 2 Madeleines.

But if you like the name then go for it.

hey how many Elizabeths and Rachels do you know :)

If its a name that takes your heart then go for it ;) Were these other sites American? I think its a pretty common name over there.

I personally prefer Madeline over Madison and only know one Madeline, no Madisons. BUT I'm not exactly around kids in my life ATM. Maybe there are lots of Madisons at the local playgroup :)

I understand what you are saying, I love the name Declan but I don't want my kid having the same name as every other boy in his generation.

My DD is Madison.
It is fairly common but I have always loved the name so thats what we chose. If you like it go go for it.

I know 3 madisons, all under 2.

Isnt it funny how you never really hear the name too much until you have a child with the same name??

I used to read the birth announcements for about 3 months before my kids were born, not once did I see thier names I chose until, after they were born and I seen them more often then.. weird

I don't know any Madison's but then again my baby hasn't arrived yet so when she is in school i may know some.

I don't think popularity should matter, if you love the name use it. Madison is one of my fave girls names and i would definately consider using it. :)
