hello bub-hubbers!
Although a regular visitor to these forums, this is my very first post. My story begins...crikey, it's a long story. So perhaps, just cut to the chase?
Last August i met a couple (through their 'seeking egg donor' ad)...and i underwent a donor cycle, here in victoria. it seems that, after many early miscarriages, the intended parents have reached the end of their pregnancy hopes.
so i have offered to change my status from egg donor to surrogate (gestational...not using my own eggs this time).
so...we are hoping for the law to change here in victoria, planning a trip to the USA to use an egg donor, and perhaps a birth in nsw or canberra.
if anyone else has been a surrogate, or wants to chat, that would be great. (i've not met anyone else who has done this).
my work colleagues have been wonderful (the women who i've told....)...but i'm not sure how my siblings will react. thankfully, i have my parents support.
thank you if you decide to offer any advice or hints. :flowerz:

Well, tomorrow we hope their (now my) ivf specialist can fill a few blanks about current laws and changes to victorian law that may be coming soon. Because i will carry the child for them, i think it's better to use a known but non-australian egg donor? it just seems complicated enough without using an aussie egg donor (if they could find another one. they already found me).
congrats on your forever baby in china. how terribly exciting. i hope i can help this couple meet their forever child, too.

Kitkate, well done and huge congrats for deciding to become a surro. :yelclap:You're wonderful. We're a small clan and we hope to grow.
There are various ways to surro journey depending on where you and your IP's are, how their fertility is affected, and unfortunately how much $$ they can spend. Some are legal (just painfully long) , some skirt the boundaries and shake up the polititians and media, some are down right illegal but we still occassional hear about.
I'm in NSW and am currently cycling for a GS sibling to my previous surro bub. We're working with a clinic here in Sydney but years ago we had to have the embies created here and sent to the US. I went there for the transfers and medicals but gave birth here.
My only advice to to :ecomcity: talk, natter, waffle, communicate with your IP's as much as possible. Even little thngs can blow out of proportion because of the emotional high.

Wow, Kitkat! You are amazing. I too would like to be a surrogate one day! Im only just starting to look into it and am daunted by how hard it all seems. Are you able to give a me a summary of what the process would be for becoming a Surrogate? I think I will start with Egg donation and go from there.... I will be keeping an eye on your story to see how it progresses.
