ok, I'll try and help best I can but I'm sure more experienced nappy makers will be along to help.

Other than PUL Procare is another waterproof material you can use. Havnt used it myself and I doubt Spotlight sell it. If your really wanting to grab stuff at spotlight to make a nappy now, why dont you make a fitted instead?

As for what you will ned to make an AIO

PUL - nappy cut
suedecloth or fleece for inner
elastic
Hook and loop or snaps (if you have a snap press)
Absorbent inner - bamboo fleece, flannelette, terry towelling, hemp - whatever you prefer

Spotlight isn't the best place to get nappy making supplies. A lot of online stores have discounts during march due to the GDUNH.

The only thing that you would get from spotlight is fleece, for an outer. But, I much prefer PUL to fleece.

:iagree: fairy fabrics, baby delight and wrigglebots are who i use. And I can generally get my fabric within 4 days from fairy fabrics and wrigglebots and baby delight, well, the are just down the road from me.

If you want to perfect your skills then I would get Fleece as an outer probably about half a metre, then you have some more to practice on. There is a microfleece at spotlight called tiny treasures (or something along those lines) half a meter again, or you could use flannelette. 1 meter of swimmers elastic, hook and loop - dont know if spotlight have this. As for how much your pattern should let you know.

And for the soaker use anything thats absobant - terry towelling is a good one. Not sure what else spotlight sells that you could use.

You can convert your AIO pattern to a fitted - just dont use the PUL. You will need a waterproof cover over them, and you could use them as at home nappies.

The best fleece from spotlight for the inner is called "little additions" It's really thin and doesn't pil.

Try and get a thick fleece for the outer layer and use 2 layers in the wet zone.

Good luck:flowerz:

Spotlight dont have much in the range of MCN fabrics but I bought some cheaper fabric to practic on before spending lots of expensive stuff. You could get some polar fleece for the outside/cover layer but it's not very good quality and you will need to use a double layer or an extra layer in just the wet zone. They do have some pretty cute fleece prints and they're pretty cheap too. For the liner I would get some co-ordinating microfleece, again pretty cheap. For the soakers perhaps some towelling or flannelette. SL does sell very cheap "nappy flannelette" which you could make some fitted nappies but I would probably still get some microfleece for the liner (inside) layer. You will also need thread, elastic (swimwear stuff) and some hook and loop (velcro) if you don't have a snap press.

My first nappies that I made are pockets with two layers of fleece on the outside and one layer of microfleece on the inside. I have nine of these and they are my workhorse nappies for at home.

I have only had a couple of leaks in them but this was due to the wee not being taken up by the bamboo quickly enough and has been remedied by laying a single layer of microfleece cleaning cloth on top of the bamboo booster.

They do tend to be a little bit bulky and are prone to compression leaks which is why I only use them at home but they are good cheap nappies.

Here is a pic of one of them on: http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg68/glenandpeta/Share/000_0011.jpg

i've been making nappies with polar fleece outside and microfleece inside and a boosting of bamboo or hemp. I can buy the fleeces at spotlight. IN this weeks catalogue there is all sorts of fleece on special, and some minky which I"d like to try for an outer.

2 layers of fleece for sure! I love fleece nappy's, so breathable and so soft too :) I just made an AI2 this morning with fleece in (hopefully!) a size medium to try on my friends bub. Trying to get patterns sorted for sewing for our next little treasure!

And once you have got a handle on it all, you can buy the more exy premium fleeces online. My fav spot is Fairy Fabrics, their bamboo fleece (for boosters) is ace too.
