Hi all....
Thought I would ask to see if any of you have a recommendation for a pregnancy book. I have looked through an old copy of What to Expect When You Are Expecting and found I was a little underwhelmed with it... maybe the more updated version would be better...
I do enjoy the Dummies series of books and they have a Pregnancy for Dummies edition...maybe I should try that!
...and I think someone recommended Up The Duff by Kaz Cooke as a light-hearted read...
What do you ladies think?
I'm such a bookworm (or nerd whichever fits!)

I like 'Up the Duff'
It's light hearted, has most of the info you need, has weekly chapters, and is not a bad read.

I liked a book called "Birth - Conceiving, nurturing and giving birth to your baby" It's an Aus book written by 2 midwives and it's pretty thorough, though quite dry. I also got a book called Active birth by Janet Balaskas (didn't use much from though unfortunately!)

hey there
i found what to expect book the best as it had most of the questions that i would ask and good answers as well
i know it might be a bit old but try the new edition it may just be worth it (out of all the books i had it was the one i kept going back to)

Hi, what to expect when expecting became a bible in my house for every little complaint, this time around I have hidden it, too much info to diagnose yourself with.
I recommend going to the library and borrowing a heap of Mother & Baby and I think the other is Parenting something? magazines, why buy them when they are free and you can lend a heap, lots of ideas and stories to read, I loved them.

Also, there is a book I have that came in my Hospital/Baby bag when I booked in, not sure if they still give it out. It was blue and white headed NSW Health something? will check on this for you when I find it. Anyway, it gives step by step details of what to expect at the birth and exactly what each stage means/entails, I would definitely read that again, it was very clear and easy to read :).

I'm not a due-in sept 08 (not due at all lol) but I cant recommend enough a book called "Birth Right" by Susan Ross. It isn't really about birth at all, but outlines ALL the available birthing options that you may/may not have considered.
A must-read! I have a copy so if anyone wants to borrow it feel free to PM me :)
