hi, We have been offered flu vaccinations at work and while I'm TTC is it ok to get a flu shot or is it something I should avoid?
I thought maybe it might be a good idea but if I am a couple of weeks pregnant I wondered if it might not be such a good idea.... ?

Hi, I got the flu shot when i was pregnant. I think i was about 10 weeks. The Dr told me it was safe.
I just found this site on the net;
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/12/28/1072546410793.html
They say Pregnant women who are not vaccinated against the flu could be putting their unborn babies at risk of brain damage and developmental problems.
Of course is totally up to you as you only want the best for your baby.
Im sure there is heaps of info on the net and if you still arent sure go speak to your GP about it.
Best of Luck. :D

I just found this site also
http://www.companioncard.org.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Flu_and_pneumococcal_pneumonia_immunisation?Open
Its has heaps of info on the vaccine and in the first paragraph they say that pregnant women SHOULD be given the vaccine.

Thanks heaps for those links! :thumbsup: I will definately be putting my name down.
I had my free flu vaccination through work yesterday! I had to get a letter from my GP saying it was okay. When I spoke to her, she said it was actually recommended now, so go for it!

I suffer badly during flu season being asthmatic, and I almost always end up on antibiotics so I always get the flu shot, this year with bubs on the way I asked my OB and he said go for it. :)
I would do it, I did it when I was 14weeks and bubs seems to be fine, at least we will not get the flu. :smiliedance:
