View Full Version : Seeking childcare in Norman Park area
Hi there,
I'm expecting my first in October and plan to go back to work probably 3 days/week after about 6 months leave. (That's the plan at this stage anyway...) I am starting to hear about long childcare waiting lists so think I should get my name down soonish (time is going so fast!).
Can anyone recommend good childcare in the Norman Park, Morningside, Coorparoo general area?
Also, any tips on how to identify a good place would be welcomed. The horror stories on TV are a bit scary.
Thanks!
The East Brisbane Family Day Care Scheme - ph 38915684 - have been a fantastic option for us. My daughter was cared for 4 days a week from when she was 11 months old in the home of a woman in Coorparoo who we now regard as a third grandmother. Of course there are some carers who are better than others and different carers will meet the needs of different families - our carer for example is better with babies than older children as she spoils them and has trouble saying no, which is great for a baby and harder with an older child! Definitely an option I would recommend exploring as well as the centre based care options.
Dear Mea,
When I was looking at childcare options last year before my son was born in December I found two centres at Morningside that I thought were good - Puss'n'Boots on Thynne Road 3899 2695 they have two intakes a year the next is the 1 Nov 2005 ( or the first Monday in Nov) and that is for the following year. We queued up at 7am for a 9am start and my son is in for July 2005 without any troubles and I can have my pick of days since I asked for 5 days and only want 2 days per week.
Otherwise the ABC Centre at Morningside we were also impressed with I cannot find their contact details but they are on the web. They are always taking names while some other centres indicated to me that the waiting lists were so long they were no longer taking names.
Best of luck with finding childcare I understand that in certain areas there are 2 year waiting lists.
