we moved to germany for a year in july. i happily packed up all clea's nappies and brought them with me. but.... we don't have a washing machine so we haven't used them. i don't even know how many i have but its a fair few.
I have some peapods (10 or so) which are well used. found these were easy to use in hot brisbane, an ittybitty, a lovely ocean berryplush which has only be used a few times :(, a heap of babybeehinds (new hemp, old hemp, bamboo) covers, boosters :(. We won't be getting a washing machine cause the flat is too small and we don't have anywhere to piut it and we are probably leaving within the next few months.
As you can see there are alot to carry around and now I want to get rid of them. well i don't really want to get rid of them but we are not planning another bubs anytime soon and we do plan to move around alot over the next couple of years and...I am optimistic that clea will be toilet trained in the next 6 months.
But how do I sell them? I am in a country where I don't really speak the language... i cant sell them on ebay germany as they are used. It is expensive to post them to aust (maybe around $80)...... any ideas?

I would see if anyone is interested in paying the postage plus a little extra?
would you be able to sell them on the australia ebay site - maybe a a bulk lot or a couple of bulk lots (just mention in the add they will be sent from germany so they will expect a bit of a delay in postage time). Find out beforehand what the postage from germany to australia would be (convert to Aust dollars) and if you sell in Aust dollars it may be easier to know how much your really getting for them. I have bought stuff on Australian ebay that are sent from overseas.

DFB, I've seen (& bought) lots of second nappies on ebay. Maybe the postage if you sold smaller lots wouldn't seem so excessive?
Hehe, maybe I'll go halvies with wildatheart!

Maybe see if some one is willing to enter into an agreement with you like - they pay for postage, but agree to return them to you (you pay postage) when you need them next??

hi Cat13, I tried to post nappies on ebay before and they were taken off as they said it was against policy. But I have seen 2nd hand there as well.

Do you have friends or family here that you could ship them too? That way they could do the posting side of things as you sell them.

:iagree: The best thing would probably be to post them back to oz to a trusted friend or family, and get them to act as a selling agent for you. That way it is easier for you, and cheaper for the buyer.
Buyforbaby would be the best place to start....but let me know what you do cause I would love to pick some of them up! :D :p
I don't know anything about cloth nappies, so I don't know how big or how heavy the whole stash would be.
I just thought, if you want to send them to OZ, there's a possibility. They, the german post, has a service called, paeckchen (basically a small parcel) for parcels up to 2 kg.
The size of the box must be: length, width and height max 90 cm but no side longer than 60 cm.
The cost for one of those parcels to OZ would be 12.90 Euro which equals about 20 Dollars. So not that much but I don't know how fast it would get here.
Don't know if that helps..

well i have decided to ship them home and keep them. When we move on from here i plan to ship a few boxes over to aust. It takes 3 months! Thanks for all the ideas it really made me think about the nappies (wow what a life I have!) and decided if we have another bub in the future it would be great to have them.

buy keeping them you save a huge amount of money, so you dont have to start from scratch when you do have another child.
i'm working out the cost of what i am going to spend on cloth nappies and well the initial price is scary but worth it and cheaper in the long run and you can use them on the next child, they also hold the resale value. like boori furniture lol
so how long are you going to be on you're travels for, it sounds very exciting
