Gosh, there are zillions out there. And once you buy a few, in a few months you may find those first few at the bottom of the pile! I know my favs always change. I love Monkey Doodlez and Mummys Touch AIO. If I had a newborn I would use fitteds. I buy most of mine second hand though as I cant justify spending $30 on a nappy!

thanks jbelle where do you mostly get 2nd hand ones from?
AIO's take ages to dry. My BBH's don't get much of a work out because they take half a day longer to dry than the AI2 and the pockets in perfect weather.
Fitteds are recommended for night use - I'm only just doing the changeover myself at the moment so I am still using up some sposies at night and leaving the night nappies til later.
Once I do, I will look at some fitteds.

I like pockets for during the day. For pockets, I really like:
Green Kids
Blueberry
Swaddlebee organic velour side-snap
Fuzzi Bunz
HoopDeeDoo's minky/pul/fleece pockets
And ALWAYS fitteds for night time. Waaay more absorbant to have a special night nappy- we use Bubblebubs Good Night Sleep Tight fitted nappies.
We also use other fitteds for naps, such as Very Baby Simply Nights.
We do have a few AIO's because they can be handy for short times such as after bath/before bed or when I want to leave a few nappies out for someone else to put on DD. Not as absorbant, slow drying, but we like:
Baby Beehinds Magic-Alls
Cherub's Kiss HoneyBoy
And AI2's such as Berry Plush, Itti Bitti (great for under leggings or jeans) and again, HoopDeeDoo's AI2's are great.
Bamboo is the most absorbant, pretty much everything we have is in bamboo. I love the Green Kids bamboo inserts for all the pocket nappies (all brands). Don't like hemp for anything really... not as absorbent and stinks.
We have a Baby Beehinds cover for the less bulky fitteds, but for the night nappies, DD wears the wool soakers, longies and shorties that I am obsessed about knitting  Oh I am so addicted! They work better then anything else, IMO, are easy to care for (anything that doesn't need a wash for a month or so has got to be easy!) and there are some beautiful lush yarns available that feel gorgeous knitted up.
I wash in hot water with 1/2 the recommended amount of liquid (earth choice) after a cold pre-rinse and always dry on the line.
There, that's what I do, and what I like- good luck and welcome to the clothie club! :D:smiliedance::goodvibes:

thanks pookies, that helps out heaps.
I am now looking at making my own. There are a few free patterns and some pretty funky materials.
I have seen a few second hand and new with tags on ebay and buyforbaby even monkeyundies has a few.
I originally planned to use fitted and got a few different kinds to try. They just didnt work for me. I found they took just as much effort and didnt store as well or were as good so didnt bother. My DS is happiest with just good old terry squares. I use a modified kite fold day and night and really does not like the odd occassion when he is put into a disposable. My mum is has my nephews old supply of terry squares (he turns 10 this year) and they are still working great and it means I don't have to pack an extra bag of nappies when he goes for a sleep over at Nannas. I also got a packet for my sister to use at her house as he spends Tuesdays there while I am at work. I use Actil (mums are Actil blue but I havent been able to find them) with J&J nappy liners which seem to last forever.
Hope this helps.
