i think the best advice i got was from my sister in law, who replied, "pebbles if it's a girl & bam bam if it's a boy" (remember the flintstones?) just to shut everyone up. she was right when she warned me that no matter what your choice of a name is for your dd or ds, SOMEONE be it family, colleague, neighbour or friend, will have a fair dinkum reason as to why you cannot call your child that name.
HOWEVER, once your little darling enters this world, everyone will be too busy picking him/her up to tell you what they think of the name. & you will love your child no matter what decision you make.
(unless you're like gweneth paltrow and decide on something like "apple"...that poor kid!) hehehe

Good advice!!
I heard that Gwyneth wants to call her new bubby MORTIMER (it's a boy)....... poor little kid, I think he'll be jealous of his sister's name!!
Excellent advice! I totally agree..... we will not be revealing names until after it's written on the Birth Certificate. Even when I have tossed around names as options (without telling people what we *really* like) someone has always come back with a negative comment about our favourite name. Which I personally think is a bit rude.. but I'm sure I've done the same to people in the past! :D
PS.. Or else they just go 'uh-huh' and don't comment. I think that's worse!
Pish I don't care our child our name...if you don't like it that's your problem my family kept on and on for about 4 months over the name Eliza saying you sure, about 200 times. In the end I said look you had your children you named them, and to my brother I said when you have your own you can name them :D
I haven't told them the middle name yet in saying that I just can't wait to hear what they say lol

Haha that is good advice, i think i will do that just to shut people up if they dont like the name i have chosen! Pity i already know its a girl. But hey, there's still next time ;)

well, if pebbles & bam bam catch on quickly, i think you could all try something more modern, like "apple if it's a girl & mortimer if its a boy".
or what about something to really annoy the oldies, "billy ray if it's a boy & cindy lou if it's a girl" (& yes, i'm a cmc fan!)
or even "Clemence if it's a boy, & Beryl if it's girl", wouldn't your nana love that one!
any other suggetions?
The names we have chosen have only been revealed on here, see how much I trust you girls!:)
We have refused to tell anyone. And it's amazing the people that do ask "Have you got names picked out?" Our response is always "yes, a girl and a boy's." They will then go on to ask what exactly and I just say "I can't tell you, it's a surprise!"
We used to say the name of the person asking..
John asks, "So what are you going to name the baby?"
We reply, "John"
Mary asks, "Have you thought of any names yet?"
We reply, "Mary"
Horace asks, "What names do you have picked out?"
We reply, "Mary" :D
You get the picture ;)
