Hi again,
Needing words of wisdom and feel free to lie and tell me it'll all be over soon :p
I hit the 38 week mark on Friday, and after 5 hours of Braxton Hicks that night, i honestly thought it'd happen soon - but nothing. Then i thought my waters might have started to break last night (on my birthday of all days) cause i was dripping, just a little but enough for me to notice - so i had a pad on all night but to no avail  That combined with period like cramping that i have been feeling since about 8pm last night  Which is now focussed on my left side. Atleast i got a bit of sleep last night, should be grateful i guess as i haven't slept in days. I've been feeling really off for almost a week now with a constant headache and my feet are really swollen.
Just honestly don't know what to do. I have my midwife appointment this afternoon so hopefully something will happen, or they'll shed some light. My husband has been great. Being my birthday yesterday he made me breaky in bed, didn't let me get up till after 11am. Then made me lunch, birthday cake and dinner and EVEN cleaned up after himself  Shouldn't be like that though, he's always great.
Just need to know that this'll be over soon. Really want my baby
Thanks for letting me rant

nearly there!
eat hot curry and have lots of sex, that should get the ball rolling (well so i'm told,it worked for a friend of mine!) :D
one stage of your journey is about to finish, and the best part is almost here, good luck and i hope it happens soon. :)

Your nearly there, I was very over pregnancy towards the end but everyone said just enjoy it. Now I think back and wonder what it would be like to lay on the couch like a whale while hubby brought me refreshments...... Like Mel says, enjoy the final stage of the pregnancy journey, before your little miracle blesses you with his/her arrival. It is such a magic time. I am excited for you as I type!
Hang in there!
It does seem like it drags on forever and then when you look back at those last few weeks before the birth of your baby you will wonder where they went as life has changed so dramatically and you had wished you had gotten more sleep :D .
I remember hitting the 40 week mark and I was still pregnant. It felt like it was never going to happen and then 3 days after that, whilst entertaining relatives at a BBQ, whammo it happened! I had my baby that evening!
It will happen soon enough. Try and get as much sleep as you can, because you won't be getting any for a while soon :D
By the way, I am starting on my 40 weeks waiting again! I have about 34 weeks to go due with #2 (all being well), so you are well ahead of me! LOL

Thanks for the support. I feel stupid complaining when there are people out there having problems with conception etc. I was told that it was unlikely that i would be able to have children and so i do realise that i am blessed. I am so grateful for having a great pregnancy and am enjoying the rest that i am getting now.
I saw the midwife yesterday and she said that everythings going great and that all the signs are positive so hopefully not too long now. Bub is engaged and movements have slowed down so they said that she's probably getting much needed rest before her big journey too.
Must admit that i'm feeling alot better now after having a good nights sleep, only got up at 11pm, then 5am to go to the loo when hubby's alarm went off. Then managed to go back to sleep till 8.30. Its amazing how much better i feel having slept.
Good luck to everyone out there, i honestly hope that you all have as wonderful a pregnancy as i have (without the pelvic pain). I'm now just looking forward to holding my baby for the first time and seeing the look on my husbands face. Can't wait.
Thanks again for letting me complain. Don't know what we'd all do without the support that all the members of bubhub provide.

Well I just went to the dr to ask about the miagraine tablets I take...Cafergot...she recommended that I do NOT take them late in pregancy...as they can bring on labour...by contracting the uterus. LOL
Maybe you could please miagraine! No...just joking!
Good luck! I'm sure it will happen soon!!!

Hi Rainbowbrite,
Hope you are feeling better today. When I was 41 weeks pregnant, and had tried walking, sex, raspberry leaf tea to no avail, a friend suggested laughter might help. It so happened that night, hubby and I were watching a very funny program that had us laughing out loud, and half an hour later, I started to go into labour.
So maybe watch a funny movie or catch up with someone who makes you laugh - you'll feel much better even if it doesn't work :) .
Oh how I can relate!!! I have just hit 38 weeks. Last night I was awake for 2 hours with braxton hicks contractions - I got all excited and then it all just stopped!! Nothing is comfortable - walking, sitting, lying!!! Plus I can't wait to meet my new little one!!!
BUT it will happen - very few woman are pregnant indefinately!!!!!

Hi again,
Its been a while since i've been around but with good reason. On Tuesday night at 9.30pm my waters broke :D first contraction at 11.30pm and by 9.57am 18th May 2005, my gorgeous daughter MJ was born, posterior, weighing in at 3200g (7lb) and 49cm long.
So I am now sitting here typing while my beautiful daughter sleeps in her bassinette next to me. I must say it was nothing like I had expected, didn't really experience the contractions because the back pain was so intense.
But its all over now. Thanks to everyone who helped me through with kind words, and wisdom. Now I just hope I can be the best mum possible to my little girl :)
I'll post the full story in the birthing thread
Thanks
Rainbowbrite
Well done Rainbowbright on sticking it out and keeping your smile :)
And welcome MJ :p
