I don't have an answer for you, I'm actually keen to know as well! My bub is around the same age and I've started expressing for her too.

I was told that on average we produce 700-1000ml in a 24 hr period.

Take the typical average and divide by the number of feeds you give her in a 24 hour period and that is a ROUGH guide!

Eg 750ml divided by 6 feeds would be about 125ml. So maybe allow between 90-150ml.

Obviously allow a little extra or freeze in small batches so you don't waste any.

Don't know if that helps! There is a good site called Kellymom that has a milk calculator. Try googling it and see what you come up with. Or you can ring the lactation consultant at your hospital.

Wouldn't life just be easier if we had see-through bosoms with little fluid markers on them so we could see how much they were drinking?

I was told, and have always done this equation:

Kilo of the bub multiplied by 150ml divided by the amount of feeds you do.... so my bub at 4 months was 6 kilo and on 5 feeds so

6 x 150mil divided by 5 feeds was 180mils....
