If they will be wearing it over night or for extended periods you will need a cover. If they are just running around the house than no I don't think so. You just change it when it is wet :D

Yep, you need a cover for a nappy that doesn't have a built in waterproof layer - although if bub isn't wearing any pants and you change as soon as they are wet it isn't a problem.

Pocket nappies (unless it is a fitted pocket) and AIO's don't need covers though.

We just use a cover when we need to keep bubs enviroment dry. So overnight, naps and in the car, otherwise we go coverless for a fair portion of the year, in winter we use woolies mostly over the top.

I'd never use a fitted without a cover.

A few people here on BH said they did it around the house... so I tried it and DD just ended up leaving little wet patches everywhere. Gross.

If you don't want to spread wee around, unless you're going to notice the nappy is wet straight away, then I'd always use a cover.

Yep :iagree: with the others.

If we're just at home, I change as soon as he wets, so no cover..

Or in winter I just have him in a fitted with some bonds polar fleece trakkie pants over the top, and they act like a fleece cover. (this year I'm braving my first step into wool.... ooooh scary!)

but when we're going out anywhere or he's wearing clothes over the top I either use a cover, or use a pocket or AIO, or AI2 wich don't need covers.

I prefer to use a cover- we use woolies in summer and winter. We have only ever had one PUL cover for fitteds and it was bought for a party we where going to. It only got worn a couple of times. I prefer wool, more natural and breathabl;e and bullet proof wee wise.

No covers over fitteds when it's warm enough to go without pants- I just pat her bot-bot as she flies past to check if she's done a wee and change when she does :)

But on a cool morning when she needs pants, or when out and about, covers are essential :)

If you are happy to change after each wee (which is nicer and healthier anyway) then there's no probs if you're having a summer baby
