We are moving soon. Our dear Doggie, who is a 4 year old Lab, Will be following us down a couple of weeks later on the plane.

Now DP's work is arranging this flight for him, What Im wanting to know is if anyone else has ever had there dog, Go on a flight, and how did your dog handle it ?

Even though he is a big dog he's not a very brave dog:no:

Im a bit worried for him.

My sis#2 often flies her dogs to Melbourne and back to Sydney and never has a prob.

She got Roxy used to her crate for a few weeks before hand, and for the first flight got a very very mild sedative from the vet.

Our dog was on a three hour flight from Port Hedland to Perth, I don't remember much from the actual relocation but from what I can remember, he did really well, he was nice and calm at the end of the trip and was definitely happy to see us but he didn't seem overly upset or anything!

Our dog (Boxer, 4 years old) was on a flight in December 07 from NZ - Brisbane. She was absolutely fine, and actually still uses her crate as an indoor kennel (in the garage) :D

There is no quarantine period from NZ - AUS, but she was in the crate for over 6hours...she did so well :goodvibes:

when i was living inqld I quite often flew back to sa and flew my dogs back with me. They coped fine got a bit stressed but that is just my wussy lab, after a day of rest she was back to her normal self.
try not to worry as horrible as it seems at least you will be at the other end which will make him very happy after not seeing you for a couple of weeks:)

When I used to breed dogs i often used to export pups overseas (mainly to japan and the US). All travelled fine with out any issues.

I used to give them a dose of Recharge (and electrolyte liquid available at most vets/produce stores) just to be safe and make sure they didn't dehydrate.

Cheers,
Ishka

Awww so glad to hear !!!!

My Lab did her first flight at 9mths & she was awesome !!!!! She was a happy go lucky girl so thought all the attendants dealing with her before & after the flight were her personal team
