Im looking to moving there to , wanted to be in springfield or springfield lakes but to expencive an no yard room..
We are looking at Riverview State school, i would say it would be better to go to the school closest to where u live . We are looking at South Ippy
Up here u can go to where every u want , I notice down there they prefer to have ppl go to the schools in the area that u live of the school

Depends.
Are you wanting private or public?

hey girls! yeh, i would say probably public would be good, it just depends on costs and that, even though id love it for a private christian school, but they are expensive.

Can i ask what area you will be moving to?
Collingwood Park State School, East Ipswich and Silkstone State schools are meant to be really good. Westside Christian College, and Sacred Heart Primary at Booval are private, but quite reasonable. St Mary's/St Edmunds and Girls/Boys Grammar have a great rep (Grammar is very expensive).
I have heard not so good things about Krueger State School and Riverview State School, but that could just be a matter of opinion. I don't have kids, just lots of teachers in my family!!
Jaz's mum - if you prefer new/newish low sets, then Collingwood Park, Redbank Plains and Raceview have lots, and more reasonably priced and bigger yards than Springfield etc. Bellbird Park is a nice area with a mix of older and newer style houses.
If you prefer the more classic queenslander type home in more leafy areas, try Booval, Silkstone, North Booval, East Ipswich, Denmark Hill, Woodend.
Some of the area's with a bit of a bad name in the past are Goodna and Riverview, however things are slowly changing, especially with lots of new families and couples buying into the area.
I have lived at Collingwood Park, Bellbird Park, Redbank Plains and North Booval if you have any questions!

If you are looking for a small school, Blackstone state school is lovely. It is convenient and the grounds and staff are great. All the children get to know each other and so do the teachers. It has one of the highest literacy levels in qld. I can't praise it highly enough.

We have just moved to Collingwood park, and even though it is a pain to get to right down the back where we are, the area is nice and the school have so far been fantastic....lovely girls in the office and my girls have settled in really well.
We picked here because hubby still works in Brisbane, and I travel between Ipswich and South Brisbane. I catch the train just down the road to go into town, and drive into ipswich which is not a bad drive.

My son went to Raceview State School from kindy to end of grade 4. It is a huge school with over 1000 students. It is a lot easier for kids to be 'lost' in the crowd. THe poor teachers spend a lot of time trying to control the 'naughty' kids that other kids dont get the help they need. IMO
Bethany Lutheran school in Raceview has a great rep. I knew the principal and he was very focused on giving the kids every opportunity to do well. So, if you can afford to, send them here rather than Raceview state. (again just IMO:))

mec, i can't help u as we live a wulkuraka and there are some good school near us but tali is still only 7 months so it a long time way at the moment and wulkuraka is 2 station from ipswich on the rosewood line
I have heard good things about both the Ipswich Junior Grammar School (at the girls school) and Westside Christian College at Goodna.

Central Primary has a good rep, although I did hear that there's a bit of a prob with bullying in the past few years. East Ipswich is aparently pretty good too and so is Silkstone.
Ill be sending Elora to Sacred Heart in Booval. Its absolutly lovely.
If I was to go public, I wanted to send her to Blackstone (I love small schools) but I heard its closing????

I went to Silkstone State School. It was a pretty good school as far as I was concerned... but I didn't go to any other schools to compare it to...

A decision hasn't been made yet as to Blackstone school. They are in the schools of tomorrow and so is Bundamba, Silkstone, Riverview and Dinmore. Even if it is to close it won't be for a few years yet. I have had children attend there for the last 13 years. It is a wonderful school and if it is to stay open it will be great. By the time the op moves here a decision should have been made.

Thats fabulous! I was so dissapointed to hear that it was one that was closing. I am besotted with the whole of Blackstone so like I said before, if it was public school for Elora, then thats the one she'd be going to.
Thanks for clearing that up.

no problem:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:i stays open.
i think a school is a matter of oppinion and that every person has a different oppinion about every school.
I live in Redbank Plains mostly because it is out the back between ipswich and brisbane. We are close enough to go anywhere in the area.
My son goes kruger state school. I dont find it too bad but then it is a big school with lots of kids. My friends son goes to redbank plains state school - down schools road and says it is really good. Not as many kids as Kruger and it has lots of fun activities in the prep year. THis school also offers a before and after school care program. All i can suggest when picking a school is take the time to go and check it out, during school hours. THis way you can see the way the class room are ran and you more or less get a feel for it. I moved my son before grade one and did this. He had a wonderful teacher last year and this year. We are looking at moving again and this is how i will be picking out his next school.
Goodluck with your move

Hi,
My kids go to Ipswich West State School. They have had no problems there and I like the fact that it is only a small school so my two don't get lost in the crowds. They have been at the school since we moved from NSW a year ago.:)
