 Hello Fellow Breastfeeding Mummas!

Well i need some tips  Im breastfeeding little man and also offering Bottles of Formula i cant feed him (when i have to do something with DD or when i am empty or whatever else).... Id really like to exclusively breast feed him OR feed him more breast than bottle!

Cant seem to express haha.... but ive read that for some people thats completely normal.

Anyways.. what are some good tips to increase my supply so i can breast feed longer? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

TIA!

The best thing to do is to breastfeed, from the breast, as often as possible. Honestly, I would chuck out all bottles, all formula, all dummies, and just have a day in bed letting Mr Moo have unlimited access to the boob. The more he sucks, the more milk you'll make. And honey :hugs: your breasts are never empty, I'm so sorry you've been given bad advice :hugs: Please contact the ABA and perhaps go along to some meetings in your area, it's really easy to get caught up in the "just one bottle every now and then" cycle and it turns into breast refusal and low supply.
The best thing to do is FEED FEED FEED :D Also eat protein for breakfast (ie red meat, or eggs) or oatmeal if you can't stomach meat or eggs in the morning. Do a search on bubhub for "Lactation Cookies" and bake a huge batch and munch on them every day. Drink a big dark beer every night (Stout, or Guiness - the real stuff) (oh, and drink it immediately after a feed :D not before :D). Don't worry about pumping, you're right for some people it just doesn't happen. And most importantly FEED FEED FEED :D

Firstly, you will have to ditch the bottles of formula if you want to exclusively breastfeed.
Offering even one bottle of formula in the day can seriously undermine your breastmilk production.

I know it is difficult when you are busy with another child too, but the only way to boost your milk supply is to feed, feed and feed!

Feeding as often as possible and even spending a couple of days in bed with your baby, barebreasted, is a fantastic idea-it will allow him to do some serious feeding which in turn will give you a serious milk supply. :D
It helps to allow your opposing breast (the one NOT in bubs mouth) to "leak" as much as possible. You can either catch the milk in a cup/bottle or just put a bit towel under your breast. Putting pressure on the leaking breast can be almost automatic but allowing it to flow means your breast will produce even more milk!

You can also take a supplement called fenugreek-you get it in the health food store or the chemist. it is made by Natures own and taken twice daily for about a week can really help to boost supply. It's a herbal supplement so no need to worry about it affecting your baby.

A baby is a very efficient milking machine-much more so than a pump. Many women cannot pump much more than a few drops of milk but their baby's manage to drain them in under 5 minutes!

Good on you for seeking out advice/information on breastfeeding. If you need any further help, by all means, keep asking and your local ABA are an invaluable source of help too.

All the best. :)

I try and feed him as much as possible He is sleeping with me atm and he "dream feeds" during the night and latches on first thing of a morning and quite alot during the morning but lunch-dinner he just seems to want that bit extra. Ill try and boost my supply and TRY to not give him a bottle.... :) thanks ladies
