Ok girls, I'm sitting here reading through the forums trying to work out which EDD I should use. Now I have had some advice before that the earlier the scan the more accurate it is.

Based on my last period 15/12/07 (which came 10 days early! - never happens...always 26 day avg) I had the following:

5/2 - (should be 7wks 3 days) LMP EDD: 20th September

5/2 - 1st Dating Scan (said I was 8 wks) EDD: 16th September

18/2 - with Ob/Gyn 2nd Int U/S EDD: 9th Sept or 12th September

I have read other posts where ladies have been given EDD's LATER than their LMP dates but not earlier like me... i asked my ob/gyn if the baby bigger than normal was a problem and he said no. He asked if my dates were correct.... ahhh yes.. i know exactly when I got my period...

So which date would I use? Going off advice I'm using the 1st Scan EDD of 16/9.

I guess I'm sitting here worried as my Nuchal is on Monday which means according to that EDD I would only be 11wks 6days and wondering if it will be too early... would that 1 day off 12 wks make a difference?

Ouch my brain hurts... sorry if I have made yours hurt too.

Ohhh, I have no idea....

I think I read somewhere to go off the earliest u/s dates. They are all give or take 5 days anyway, so I doubt it would effect your 12 wk scan.

But I am not an expert!

1 day is not going to make a difference :D
as far as i know the scan can be done anytime between 11 and 13 weeks..

All those dates, no wonder your brain hurts!!! My OB said I could have the scan between 11 and 13 weeks too, so as long as it's between then I think you should be fine. He also said to make sure I had the BT no early than 10wks too. With the scan I had on monday it had EDD 28/9/08 +/- 6days!!! So if you take that into account all the dates are right!

Perhaps wait to Mondays scan and average the dates out!

Ohhh can't wait to my 12 weeks scan!

so are you saying the last period you had before conceiving was ten days early? so your cycle was 16 days (based on it usually being 26 days?)

If it were me I'd go off the LATEST EDD.
Having an earlier one just gives your care providers an excuse to unnecessarily induce you (if you go "overdue"), which can lead to all sorts of interventions and c/s.

So do you know your day of conception? As I can never go by my LMP as I never know when I am going to ovulate if at all. But I didn't ovulate until cd 37 so I then counted back two weeks and got my pretend LMP. Which then gave me my edd, which was confirmed at an u/s at 8wks. You probably already knew all that, but just in case.

Yes, Susmamma, had a one off 16 day cycle! I had 2 or 3 normal cycles after my m/c and then bang a 16 day cycle! I know the date we did the deed as I had family here for Christmas and only got the chance on the 22/12... poor DH LOL... so from the dating scan EDD i have a conception date of 25/12... not the latest scans seem to think i conceived earlier...

I have heard of so many ladies getting EDD's later than they thought but not earlier... guess I'm a strange one!

I'm not sure when I ovulated, mummasbubbas, but you definitely make sense!!

I guess the little bean will come when they are ready... i was just concerned something might have been wrong if he/she was bigger than first thought...

well then i suspect it might be possible that you had another 16 day cycle this time. which would mean ten days off "your" due date.
i think one of your dates is about ten days short of your AF dates?

the reason i say this is that i had a 35 day cycle the one before i got knocked up(very strange as i'm always 27/28 days) my early ultrasound date puts me back a week, which would be in keeping with a seond 35 day cycle in the month i conceived.

however, the only real value of an edd is for inducement purposes. i'd take the date that is the furthest away (2oth sept) which will give you the most amount of time to go overdue without inducing a premie baby (not that 38 weeks is considered premie but you want bubs to cook for as long as poss).

have a chat with your health care providor and see what they say.
my first baby my AF due date was 16th feb and my ultrasound said due date was 9th feb... big difference when it came to have to induce bubs. The midwife said we would take my AF dates... in the end bubs arrived naturally on the 2nd feb!

I totally understand what you are saying Susmamma...the ten days off AF and the same ten days off the due dates! Perfect sense...thank you! :thumbsup:
