View Full Version : How much blood is too much blood in early pregnancy?

Hey Girls,

Not sure whether to freak out or not.

Hope you've all had lunch cause this is a bit gross but this morning when I went to the toilet there was a litte bit of bloody mucus which didn't really concern me too much but this afternoon there's some blood when I wipe (not like a period).

I had some early spotting with DS which scared the life out of me but all turned out OK.

If I rush to the doctor now, what can he really do? Should I wait and see if it stops???

:(

wow you've got a great attitude because wfat you say is true.

they might send you for an ultrasound to check for a heartbeat.

could be worth it or if it's like your 1st just go with the flow.

goodluck, I hope it's nothing

Please dont take any chances. Just go and get it checked out. You will be kicking yourself if you dont and it turns out to be something. When i was in the 1st trimester i also had loss that sounded much like yours and i was a mess...it turned out to be a burse blood vessel...nothing serious at all but it is sooo scary to see any sign of blood when your pregnant. My advice, just go and get it checked out...it cant hurt you to be safe...

It's not really a great attitude, it's me trying my hardest not to stress out too much because that would be the WORST thing to do right now.

With my first one I sat in the medical centre for hours in tears on the weekend. They booked me in for an ultrasound on the Monday.

So should I go to my normal GP or head back to the medical centre where they can do the ultrasound? I need a referral from the GP for the ultrasound don't I?

yeah you do need a referral,

I lost a bub between my boys and had the bleeding and my dr rang the ultrasound place and told them that there was a pregnant lady with bleeding coming and I was taken in straight away so ask for the same if it's not offered.

let us know how you go:fingerscrossed:

Hello,

This is my #1 and I also had some blood/spotting for about 4 days in a row, once a day, at around 6weeks. I am now 9wks and haven't had it since. I put it down to it being around when my period was due and my body just a little over-full and had to leak a little out.

Hope this helps...

I've just phoned my GP and it rang out so he may be closed now.

The only thing I could do is call the medical centre I went to last time and see what they suggest.

The freaking out has started...... :(:(:(

I wouldnt even bother to call,... I'd just go. Thats what I did when I had spotting with this one. I just rocked up to my GP at 5 mins to 6pm. they were just closing but she saw me right away and gave me a referal for an U/S for the next morning as well as a BT.

With dd and i started bleeding i didn't bother going to the doctors i went straight to the hospital and they done an emergency u/s and checked to see where the bleeding was coming from. They couldn't find where it was coming from but said it was prob old blood or something.

Bubs was ok,i had the bleeding for a week and everything was ok from there.

I hope everything is ok for you :goodvibes:

I've had some old blood on and off for about a week now (week 6 of pregnancy). Thursday arvo I got my BT results then went to the loo only to find a small amount of reddish blood. I rang the clinic back and they said to keep an eye on it and ring them back if it got worse. They seemed confused as they were happy with my BT results. There was no more reddish blood after that and my brown spotting has stopped too.

Sadly the spotting has continued over the weekend and it's turned to red blood now.

I'm heading to the Medical Centre first thing this morning to get a referral for an ultrasound hopefully Monday morning.

This not knowing is killing me but we are bracing ourselves for the worst. Something just doesn't feel right.......

Good Morning,

I've just been to the Medical Centre and it's called a 'threatened miscarriage' at this stage.

I am booked in for an u/s tomorrow morning but until then I have to rest and can't even pick up my son.

I'm not sure how I'm going to make it until tomorrow not knowing.......or maybe I do know but I need them to confirm it. Who knows.

hi jelly,
how about popping along to your local emergency at your nearest hospy? with my miscarriage they gave me an ultrasound that afternoon. admittedly waiting for 6 hours in a public hospital was no fun but i found out that day what was going on.
if it's going to be too hard to wait, take your gp's letter to emergency and get them to look you over.

good luck :hugs:

I'd love to find out RIGHT NOW but I don't think my 9 month old could handle sitting in a public hospital waiting room for 6 hours.

I'll have a nice early night and be all ready for the news, whatever it may be, tomorrow morning.

What state are you in, here in N.S.W we have after hrs docs called G.P Access, they are fantastic and they are usually situated in a large hospital, they might be able to send you around to the birthing suite to have a scan, I am pretty sure that they wont be able to pick up a heartbeat until around 7wks though, but still go and see what they say, All the best.
