with baby #2, we will be using MCN full time from day i ( :fingerscrossed:)
how many will i need to buy? i will want to be able to not wash for up to 3 days (just in case! - i will wash more often but would prefer too many than not enough)
what would you recommend for a newbie (happy to use flats - any particular brand?)
ATM i've got BBB, GKs, Haute, peapods, kissaluvs and a jamtots........ what other brands would you recommend? (really want to try BG, krapcatchers and HBs... are they good?)
TIA :flowerz:
BG's are brilliant. and krapkatchers are the bomb!
for 2 in cloth to wash every 3 days... I'd say about 50
Washing every second day... about 32.
You need about 5-8 nappies a day per child... so yeah.. 2(3x8)= 48 nappies having enough for 2 in cloth washing 3rd daily.

thanks OJ.... DS isnt in nappies anymore, so i could divide the 48 by 2? so 24 nappies???
no no no, that doesnt seem enough to fulfill my addiction.... i'll tell DH we need 48
seriously though, i was thinking around the 30ish mark - does that sound reasonable?
30 is fine
We've got about 36 in use on one bubba atm.. and we often can go for 3 or 4 days without washing if we HAVE too....
BUt I don't I wash every second day.. or every day if the weather is on a good run, so I can get them all plenty of sun
30 should be heaps.
Do you sew? I'm making my own now... so much cheaper, and DH can't complain about me buying nappies anymore  You should give it a go.. and then you can have hundreds of nappies!!

i cant even sew a button onto a shirt :laughing: (so no, i dont think i'll even attempt nappies lol)
DH said i can start buying now if i want to - and we're not even TTC yet!!! (i think he knows im going to go crazy - the bank balance will like it better if i do it over 1 year rather than 1 month lol)
i'll probably get the 'workhorse' nappies first then go with funky show nappies...
thanks again OJ!
(oh and BTW - i bet you've got a pretty impressive stash by sewing yourself! do you do pockets or other kinds?)

30 should be good :) You will probably be changing bub between 8-12 times a day in the first few weeks. I would go fitteds or flats or prefolds and good covers for newborn, I would recommend loveybums organic fitteds, swaddlebee's fitteds, canningvale happies (terry flats- they are luffly) I will be making our own prefolds, I cant find what I am after elsewhere.
