i live in nambour, i've stopped working until who knows when... i'm a ballet teacher, so would love to hear from dancing people. know of any good dance classes for us oldies. the last thing i want to do is join a class of teenagers!

HI!
I'm not on the coast but thought i'd say hi to another new user as I just signed on myself.I was just thinking back to when I as pregnant with my little one who is now 15mo and how excited I was - I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy - but this is the only advice I will ever give a new Mum to be - SLEEP! NOW! even tho I have a great sleeper, your pre baby sleep will be something you dream about forever after. I wouldn't trade my little angel for sleep for anything in the world now - but enjoy the luxury of pre baby sleep while you can!! All the very best to you!

Hi!
I live on the Sunshine Coast also(seems 2 b quite a few!). I am a brand new user and brand newly pregnant!
I have just found out I am pregnant (6 weeks), our first one and started surfing info on the web. This site looks like just the thing to dispel some rumours and get the truth about pregnancy, good ob/gyn's, hospitals etc.
Is there anyone on the SC that can recommend a good ob/gyn, hospital etc?
I have seen my GP a few times and although there is not a problem, my friends in bris mentioned that they saw one. So I just wondered is this necessary?
I am healthy, 30 years old and cant believe I am pregnant?!!
I would really appreciate some guidance.
Thanks

hi brand new mum to be,
i asked my gp and other people too if i should be seeing an ob, all said it was up to me. but an ob is a specialist so will cost more. that decided it for me! i get on well with my gp and decided to just see him, now i am seeing the midwives at the nambour general hospital which is where im booked in. they are great, and it gives me a chance to get to know them before i am in labour! i've only heard good things about nambour as far as giving birth there. :)

Hi Kelly,

In response to your posting on the Bub Hub I have just had a baby boy (now six months old) on the Sunshine Coast. My Husbane and I decided on and Ob being Dr James Moir Ph 5476 2977. He is available at all Sunshine Coast Hospitables however as we were first timers and I am not the best "patient" I decided on a birth at Selangor Private Hospital in Nambour. They have a care in Paternership Program where you are assigned one of three midwives (Catherine, Rachael or Dorris) and they along with your Ob look after your pregnancy. The joy of this is they keep a closer eye on you and whoever is your midwife you develop a relationship with. This midwife is then the one who attends your birth and rather then having all the midwives changing shifts etc etc they stay with you throughout your whole labor and birth. They then visit you a few times throughout the following days. On discharge you can go home earlier if you wish and either way the midwife comes and visits you at home in the days following the birth to give any advice and just answer all the questions (Trust me there will be heaps). They also check the baby.
This program is free of charge and really was wonderful - could not recommend it any more highly. The hospital also have double rooms so your partner/husband is more then welcome to stay and they provide meals for them at a cost of $10.00 per day. My health fund covered all the costs and also my husbands meals.

Please feel free to keep in touch and ask as many Q as you like.

Suzie
