Another Constipation question

I know there have been a few threads on this type of thing, and I have read a couple, but I still wanted to know what people think.

First of all some background: I am just starting to wean Travis onto the bottle, I am doing it very slowly, as there is no rush, I am dropping a breastfed feed every 5 - 7 days. At the moment I have only droped one and his first full bottle feed was on wednesday, prior to that he only had a couple of mls. I am using S26 Gold, my first son went on S26, when he was 5 months and had no problems. Travis is normally a verrrrrrrry pooy child, however he hasnt done one of a couple of days. One of the reasons I am starting to put him onto the bottle is because he has really started to fuss on the breast, a lot of screaming and crying at times, and we are both stressing. He hasnt been himself for about a week, even before I started to wean him, so I fiqure he is going though a stormy period.

If you got through that, thankyou :D . My questions are: Should I been worrying about no poo, or wait a few more days to see if its just a phase that babies can sometims go through. And should I be giving him water??

I am off to change Adens very stinky nappy, no trouble of doing poos there just toilet train :banghead: from one stress to another :eek:

I would wait a couple more days and see how things go.

My DD is on S26 Gold and i have been told that babies tend to get more constipated on this formula for some reason (she still does get constipated from time to time).

I normally have a water bottle ready so after she has finished the formula i offer her some water, she generally only drinks a few mls. I found since i started doing this she doesnt get constipated no where near as much as she was.

See how things go and if they dont get better maybe you can give him just the normal S26 not the Gold formula.

Also could he possibly be teething??:eek:

My bubs was on s26 Gold and she was very constipated on it. We changed to Nan 1HA Gold and have had no constipation. I have heard some people just switching to plain s 26 and not having problems?

I would wait a few days before changing anything...I also found extra water helped and if that failed, a little cooking brown sugar added to water helped move things through!

Thanks for information, I thought I was doing the right thing putting him on the Gold formula! I am just back from the doctors, I rang this morning to make an appoitment for tomorrow - Aden is in childcare so its easier - but the doctor was fully booked, thankfully he was the doctor who was in this weekend. He has given me some coloxyl drops, as he said we have caught it nice and early so Travis shouldnt tear. I have brought some Karicare formula, it was the only other brand at the chemist, so hopefully that will be better. :fingerscrossed:
