My DS sleeps from 7:30pm till 4:45am every morning. This is becoming a real issue not so much for me but for him. Hes waking up really grumpy and needs more sleep but I've tried everything - feeding, rocking, patting, nurofen-ing, bonjela-ing, block out curtains - you name it I've tried it. Only thing I haven't tried is letting him cry it out until he goes to sleep. Hes 11 months old.

Has anyone had this happen and crying it out worked? Or any other suggestions.

I know you will all think I'm crazy - I know thats a good stretch of sleep from him but I'm sick of having a really upset and grumpy baby in the mornings because he is still off his face tired!!!!

Im no expert as Ive just been booked into a sleep school next month for DD1 who is 10 months old! Ive been waking up 3-6 or more times a night since I can remember to breast feed her but based on your babies age....they definately need that extra bit of sleep towards the end of the morning.

I would avoid all the medicines...as I did that and all my girl did was vomit and I made her ill from it all. Sounds to me like he is having trouble settling himself back to sleep. Is he eating solids well during the day and if so how much? What is his day sleep routine like? Does it get cold in his bedroom I know the past few nights have been getting cooler with summer nearing its end.

This school just told me they do CC and they said that they have an 85-90% success rate which to me sounds pretty good.

I know a lot of mums are against it but for us its worked many times. My girl is a comfort breast feeder so thats something I need to work on.

If you havent done the CC...maybe give it a go. If he finds it hard to settle at 4.30am then try the CC thing at the first morning or arvo sleep instead first when you are probably a bit more awake (and probably have a bit more patience too!). A lot of people even suggest 7pm as an ideal time for baby to go to sleep to so thats what I aim for (not 9pm what it used to be!)

Sometimes id get DH to give her a few sips of water. The night before last, same thing happened to me so I BF her and put her in my bed (as much as I really dont like the idea of co sleeping). She slept well until 7am.

Sorry for long reply to sum up give the CC thing a go if it doesnt work at least you can say youve tried it. It wouldnt happen over night though.

Hoping things work out for u!

When he wakes up, does he have a full nappy? Not leaking, but pretty heavy and full?

One thing that worked with my two is I sneak in and change them sometime after midnight, so they are drier in the morning. Seems to work for us.
