I've gained about 5.5kg now. At 21 weeks I am really happy with that, seeing as I gained 17kg with my DD there is no way I am going to get that high this time.
It is all relative. If you are quite overweight to begin with, many people don't tend to gain much or can even lose weight compared to their starting weight. I think this is caused by improved eating habits and also the increased effect on metabolism.
If you are relatively underweight, you will probably put on a lot more as your body tries to build up the fat stores needed during breastfeeding. Some very slim women can gain 20-30kg.
If you have a bad time with morning sickness in the first trimester this can take time to regain but from what I have heard, the body normally just increases the weight gain later on to compensate for the slow start.
As long as you are eating relatively healthy diet I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your body will tell you what it needs. :D

I've put on 7kg so far at 20 wks.. Hoping not put on as much as with DD it was 30 kg  but as PP said, I am quite a small person, so was just my boddy saying it needed the extra weight, in saying that it was all gone by 8 wks:yelclap:

I'm not weighing myself.
Alot of midwifes don't even weigh expecting mother's anymore - it really is a very outdated thing to do.
There is no "right" amount to put on - eating sensibly - exercising etc is the way to go.
If you get too caught up about the weight it is just another thing to worry about - being pregnant has enough worries/stresses than worrying about weight as well.

I have NEVER been weighed at the hospital.
I do weigh myself out of interest though. I have put on 2kgs and am currently 20 weeks tomorrow.
I am overweight though, so hope i don't gain much at all. My first DS i put on at least 15kg.
DS2 was about 7kg all up (lost 5kg in the first trimester) then ended up 7 above what i started at.

Im not really one to weigh myself, usually just go by the way my clothes feel. if my jeans get tight then out goes the carbs and sugar!
Since being pregnant i havent weighed myself either but the midwife weighs me each month when i go for my obstetrician appointment.

I go up and down with each appointment. It was the same with DD, so depending on which appointment I have either gained nothing or 1 kg. I am 20 weeks today.

My hospital weighs us mostly for the factor that if anything were to happen in an emergecy (like a csection) they have a rough estimate of your weight for medications etc :)

My weight hasn't really changed but I was over weight when I fell pregnant. I lost quite a bit during the first trimester and then put on around 4kg's and then I was sick recently, so lost all that. It's been steady now.

23 weeks and I have put on 3kgs. So pleased with that! I put on so much weight with my first son (26kgs shhhh....), so hoping not to get anywhere near that this time. I started overweight with lachlan and this time I am even more overweight!

At 19 weeks I have put on 2kgs, most of which has been in the last few weeks. I am hoping to not gain anymore than 10kgs, i put on heaps with DD and could not move towards the end, it was so uncomfortable.

Oh no...I have gained 1.5kg in 1 week. I've now gained a total of 13kg already. I only put on 12kg with DS1 so this is a bit scarey. I'll be glad if I don't put on more than 15kg though. FYI - doc said too much salt & spicey foods contributes to fluid retention. No more hot & spicey chicken for me

I think you are still doing well honey.
I put on 26kgs with Lachlan, and this time at 31 weeks I am proud to say only 9kgs, but am thinking having vomitting and dirreha having not eaten for a couple of days has contributed to this.
I am still very pleased regardless.
No sign of fluid yet, hopefully he stays away!
I am 5kg's up at 28 wks, but I did lose 11kg in the first trimester just because I cut out junk food (needed to lose it anyway!!). So still 6kg's down overall. If it helps at all, I seem to be stagnating now - with no major extra gain in the past 1-2 weeks.
I figure that this is the one time in my life that I don't need to worry about the weight too much as it will all balance itself out in the end. As long as I am eating good foods and getting some light exercise (which I must confess is what I HAVEN'T been doing!!) it will all work out.

I lost 9 kilos at the begginning (wouldn't reccommend hyperemesis as a diet method though!!) I've since put all that back on plus another 8 so thats 17 at 31 weeks! EEK! ah well, hopefully breast feeding will suck it all out!

I am impressed by everyone's minimal weight gain. I am currently 72kg's and am 31 weeks.
I do not know how to not gain weight. I am FRUSTRATED that I cannot slow this down. I have without fail gained one kg a week for sooo long its not funny. With weight gain so rapid it is amazing how hard even walking is compared to pre preg.
I walk a couple of km's most days.
At about 62 kg's my g.p. told me how hard it was going to be lose the weight after and how I ws gaining too fast. I requested a med cert to join a gym and was told no and that I should walk more, swim and 'eat less'. She did not ask what my diet was like and although I cant swim I can see and feel this gain and being told how bad my gain is (without any real insight/info) each month at around $70 for a 10minute consult has been horrid. grrrrr... I am soo sorry for going off the subject but it's all a joke really.
There are no classes in this whole town to support preg woman.. no preg yoga, pilates, NOTHING - I do though have a dvd. hoorah :(
