Hi there

We want to have a name day celebration for our son and would also like to have two friends as 'godparents' but if he's not actually being christened then they're not really 'godparents' are they? What is the correct term for these people when bub isn't christened in a church?

I'd appreciate any feedback as I am completely stumped on this one

Thankyou!

we dont really have godparents for both our boys, we figured if anything happens to us we have tons of family and friends around who can take care and guide the kids in the right direction.

We asked my sister and her partner to be Lucy's guardians in case anything happens to us. They were stoked, not that we might die  but that we trusted them with our daughter, our most treasured possession.

Hi there
We had a Naming Ceremony for my son (with Celebrant) and I also decided to have 2 Godparents and 1 Guardian.

It's really up to you wether you want Guardians or Godparents. When I was a bub (many many moons ago) I also had a Naming Ceremony, and almost 30 years later I am still close to my Godparents
I chose my 2 best friends to be Godparents, since they've been thru some ugly times with me, and I know I can rely on them and should something happen, either one would be there for my Son.......

We have three "godparent/guardians" But that is simply as we can't think of anything else to call them that we like. They won't b giving spiritual or religious guidance, nor will they be taken DD if anything happens to us. It was more that they will be taking an active role in DD's life.
