Evening ladies,
Just after a bit of info from those of you who have used OPK's.
This is my first month using OPK's and I am currently on CD18 of a pretty regular 32 day cycle. As per the test instructions I started testing on CD11 and so far have had negative results. Tonight I had a very very faint line and I was wondering if a faint line usually appears before a positive result or if it means nothing at all?
Starting to worry that if I don't O soon I won't have a long enough luteal phase :(
Thanks

I've had no luck with OPK's - tried them one cycle just to confirm I was O'ing when temps and O pain indicated I had - never got a line and was testing from day 9!

I'm using OPKs and am CD 10. I am seeing a faint line. From what I understand a faint line is a negative (unlike a preg. test), but it definitely could mean you are getting closer to your LH surge. However, I don't think it is a guarantee. I've got my :fingerscrossed: for both of us! I hoping for a really dark second line sometime this weekend!!

Each time I fell pg I used OPK's. I tried twice, I conceived twice.
They are ONLY effective if you get a result line that is as strong as or STRONGER than the control line.
I often found the day before a surge I would get a faint line, and then on the day of the LH surge I got a strong line. You ovulate a day or two after the surge. So as soon as you see the surge - your sex life should imitate that of rabbits!!!
A 32 day cycle - I wouldn't expect you to start seeing ANYTHING until cd18 anyway... The recommended testing date is based on a 28 day cycle, so definitely hold off until cd18 before you begin testing.
Best Wishes!
PS - I found the Confirm brand MUCH better than Fortel.

hi girls,
I'm on my third month of using OPK's and found that on the day before I ovulate I get a faint line, then the day after that I get a strong line, the same colour as the control line.
I use Fortel - you buy them from supermarkets at 5 kits for $20. not cheap but for me they have been reliable. I start at day 10 (just in case) and usually end up ovulating on day 14 :) I'm around 35 day cycle.
Don't forget to not drink too much before doing a test, I've started doing mine as soon as I wake up - as opposed to the pregnancy test where you aren't supposed to test with your first mornings wee :p

Thats wrong wrong wrong!!! eek! sorry aggego, I just check the pamphlet and it says NOT to use your first days wee. Must be the pregnancy one that you can. I haven't done a preg test in awhile.
fingers crossed for you for a dark line :)

I agree!!! Pee in the afternoon for the OPK's! And pee in the morning for HPT's.

Thanks lizzymcfizzy I knew what you were on about :)
Just a quick update on the OPK developments:
CD18 - faint line
CD19 - line almost as darker as test line
CD20 - lighter line
CD21 - faint line
So I reckon CD19 was a +ve and just diluted as didn't test until 6pm and had been to the gym and drank some water on my way home.
Is it normal to just get a positive on one day and then the line get fainter?
I LOVE OPK's :smiliedance: So much less pressure on my DH :D
