Hi
When my daughter was born, the hospital provided single use bottles {they came pre-asembled with bottle part, teat, ring and lid}. They were pre-sterilised and individually wrapped in plastic wrapping. Ready to use, then dispose of.
Since leaving hospital, I've tried to buy them everywhere. I know that you can get disposable plastic liners/bags, and I know that you can get small bottles {Enfamil brand forumala?} that is just the bottle filled with formuale {bit no teat etc}.
But I want a whole bottle, pre-sterilised and disposable {so all I have to do is take of the wrapping, fill it and its ready to use}.
Does anywhere know of whether these are available to buy?
Thanks, Joanne

I've never seen or heard of these, would certainly be useful some days.
Maybe you could phone or visit the hospital and find out? One of the midwives or nurses in the maternity ward might be able to get a brand or manufacturer's name from the original packaging.

Sorry, but it seems awfully wasteful in this day and age... :(
Joanne - I know what you mean as I'm a nurse & have used these..........but they were only ever supplied to hospitals (I know they were never sold to general public) and I'm not sure they are now available at all - I haven't seen them anywhere for years.
Avent do have, I think, disposable bottles..........I was going to look into them as we may have to go overseas in a little while and sterilising bottles may be a bit difficult on a 747!!
Anyway - look up the Avent website and check theirs out.

I happened to look on Avent website yesterday- reason being, I was sterilising bottles on stove in boiling water, got into bath with bub and then smelt burning plastic- I had boiled it dry and everything was melting- BUGGER. These, expensive yet essential bits were not much use. Anywho, I did see disposable bottles/teats on there.
Bugger! My friend did that too! Why don't you get yourself a microwave sterilizer......? I know they cost, but worth it in the long run in convenience and NOT doing this again!! I never considered using boiling as I just knew I'd do this too :(
I bought mine through http://www.onlinepharmacy.com.au/ and it came with 2 free 240mls bottles too!

The hospital I had my baby in also had them BUT the bottles were returned to the company to be sanitised and packaged again...they werent thrown out.
Can I ask why you would use disposable bottles? Other than on occasions such as flying as a pp mentioned why would you use them full time? Apart from the environmental impact is it not also costly to you?
Avent used to have them, you just expressed into a bag and freeze it and then attach a teat and teat ring and bottom to it, and throw the bag away when you are finished. I used to use the bag for EBM but they have discontinued that product now.

:iagree:
Totally aside from the cost, I would be horrified at using disposable bottles in today's environmental climate. Sterilising bottles takes 4 minutes and you don't really have to do it after 6 months of age. I have to say I'm really surprised at this!

Yes very good observation. So how exactly does something like this happen. It would take some digging to go back 4 years I would imagine. Well I learnt something anyway. Disposable bottles - what the????

ops i didn't realize it's so old....
but anyway it costs me $10 a month for these disposable liners. and the convenience is worth way more than that for me.
as far as the environment - they're bio-degradable plus i am not wasting water and energy washing and sterilizing bottles.
so it kinda evens out for me.
