I wax my own eyebrows, and this time it really hurt!! I am using a wax that dries and than you ripe it off, i normally use the strips...

Which wax do you prefer? Do you get it done or do you do your own?

If I'm doing it myself I like the veet strips. The nad's brand really hurt and left me with an insulting rash! I do like someone else doing it though!

Howdy!
I normally get it done but I used to do it myself. I was using the Nads heated wax (in the microwave) and the fabric strips. I found the ready made strips would hurt more! But I suppose everyone's skin is different!

Don't forget it sometimes hurts more during ovulation or that time of the month! At least it does with me! I find my pain threshold weakens!

I do it myself, but I use tweezer's  Sure, it takes a bit longer, but its not nearly as painful as the wax strips and you can really get them exactly the shape you want them.

I find that more painful letting someone else doing it.. I think because i can get myself ready before i rip it!

Here's a little tip....put a little bonjela on your eyebrows to numb 10 mins before plucking or waxing....then rub a bit of powder on your eyebrow area so it doesn't pull the skin.

I use the nads wax wand thingy - I haven't had any probs with it as long as I warm it up first otherwise it goes on too blobby and hurts like buggery and takes about 5 goes to get all the wax and eyebrows off

i'm a plucker. i put vaseline on the area i'm going to pluck before i start and that usually softens things up a bit. i've had my eyebrows waxed only once before...ay carumba, never again!!

That's a brilliant idea! So do you put bonjella on, let it sink in, then put the powder on before the wax goes on? (Sorry if it's a dumb question, I blame lack of sleep lol!)

I do my own and I use tweezers aswell. It is really quick and easy, doesn't really hurt that much. But if I ever find the time to go to a salon I will get them to do it.

I use tweezers too - I find that if I do them straight after a hot shower my pores have opened up a lot and so they dont hurt as much... Though I do go to get them done professionally every 8 weeks or so - just to keep the right shape!

I'm a qualified beautician and make-up artist, so just as soon as I learnt to wax eyebrows, I went out and bought myself a wax pot (that's what they use in salons).

I'd never been to stuffed with my brows until my beauty school teacher told me I had GREAT eyebrows and made me very conscious of them (I'm now in love with them and am scared of letting anyone near them). I would allow only my teacher, and another student (my friend in the class - Anna), wax them. Now that I've finished it (finished in 2004), I wax my own.

I'm too worried about the state of them to let a stranger have a go at them. So many people wax who aren't qualified to do so - and I don't need some silly woman wrecking my face (I have nearly black brows so they're very obvious).

I do my own, with hot wax. I don't use strips because the wax often spreads (only slightly) when you put the strip on. Hot wax also picks up shorter hairs, so it usually does a more efficient job.

I pluck a lot of the time too...because I'm too lazy to wax them all the time.

yep thats right! You shouls always put a bit of powder on before waxing anything as it soaks up the natural oils in your skin making the wax more adhesive:thumbsup:
