There are lots of mums, dads & parents-to-be on the Sunshine Coast, and it'd be great to meet all of you!

Some ideas for future outings:

Lunch up Maroochydore way (suggestions for venues...?)
Eumundi Markets Shopping Morning (Wednesdays 8.30am - 1pm)
Autumn Musical Festival - Maleny is on from March 26th - April 2nd
Caloundra Library Bookstart for Babies (Wed mornings 10am - 10.20am for children aged 6m - 3 yrs NB: Other Sunshine Coast libraries offer Bookstart also, eg: Kawana Branch Library holds theirs on Tuesdays 10am - 10.20am)
Opera on Kings Beach (Sat April 22 at sunset)
The Ginger Factory & Nutworks at Yandina - they have lovely gardens to walk around, places to sit & eat or have a coffee & nice things to buy (there is a great place to buy fresh coffee at the Nutworks!)
Weekend Barbie at the Beach - we've got plenty of nice beaches up here to choose from!

What about starting up a walking group? We could maybe pick a day suitable for most & every week go somewhere nice for a walk with the prams? Great way to get out of the house with some other parents & also to keep fit!

Also, I was thinking some point down the track, if I could organise a babysitter for the day (hi Grandma!!:D ), I would love to do a tour of the local wineries. That is a great winter activity! Noosa Hinterland Tours does a Noosa Food & Wine Day Tour. I'm not sure of the price, but it includes a compimentary Devonshire tea, lunch & wine tasting. Would anyone else be interested in doing something like that one day? If so, I could definitely look into it. Places like that will often do good deals for group bookings.

I'm sure everyone has got some other ideas for things we can do. Post them up & we can all decide what we want to do & when - our own little Social Club!

i'd love to go the library morning at kawana
not sure if the markets would work with no many prams

i will have a look into places that are baby friendly - in bris i used to meet up with mum's from bubhub once a fortnight & if it rained we went to chermside shops where they have a coffee shop with a play area attaches - also one similiar but a bit small at newmarket - i know that's not really an exciting outing but sometimes its just nice to get out & know the littlies can't escape!!

These two would be perfect for me, especially Maleny if it is on the weekend or tues or thursdays :)

Keep me posted

They all sound do-able (is that a word?) apart from the markets. I went there and it was a nightmare with one pram trying to get through!

The Plaza is always a good one at Maroocydore as everyone has shopping they need to go there for from time to time. I suggested Banjo's in the last thread as it is outside has room for prams or you can sit at a picnic table near the playgroud just over on the grass. Food is cafe style and cheap. There are other places too there of course so anywhere there really.

Also there is a movie morning on Wednesday (not sure if it it every week) at the Cinema for mums and bubs, costs $8.

Like the sound of the Music Feastival and Opera in the park (not that it is my music taste) but I guess there are no baby friendly spiderbait concerts going???

Ginger Factory is nice and relaxed too and plenty of room.

I am just happy to meet up with you all :smiliedance:

Where is Banjo's Deb? I just can't picture it. It sounds ideal!!

I'd love to take in a movie, but I don't think (scratch that...) I KNOW that there is no way Claire would sit still through a whole movie! She'd be screaming the place down before the feature even started! lol

I'd love a baby-friendly Spiderbait concert! Or Placebo... Wolfmother maybe?! Can't really see it happening! lol I do like opera though. Some opera, not all. I'm into classical music.

I'd love to do the Music festival at Maleny too, ElizaDee, but I think we're running out of time to organise it now. April seems really far away, but I just realised that festival finishes in about a week!

Howdy,

The best way to describe where Banjos is by looking for Crazy Clarks/Office Works, if you look opposite Crazy Clarks there is Woolworths and a row of shops including Mad Rons, Bakery, Chemist, Legends Hairdressing, Newsagent, walk along that row of shops and it is on the corner towards the Plaza. Hope that makes sense.

If you are stading in front of Crazy Clarks look to your left and you will see the grass area and play equipment too.

cheers

Oh, Ok! Thanks for that Deb! I don't remember having seen it, but I know exactly where you are talking about.

Yes, that would be a great place to meet up!

hello everyone, sounds like some good ideas for meeting.
the plaza suits me too . nice and fairly central. the walking group sounds good too....as does the ginger factory,
eumundi markets can be difficult with prams, what about yandina markets? haven't been there for a while but and it's more veg and plants and secondhand but it's also less busy? just an idea to toss into the mix.

Hi,

How bout we make a date for the Plaza and then use the other suggestions for next time since there are quite a few to get through?

Does next Thursday 6th April suit anyone?, get in before Easter. How about for morning tea at 10.30am at Banjos. If morning tea doesn't suit could do lunch but I don't know about you but my son is happier in the mornings.:smiliedance:

Lets see who is available to come along.

Hi Deb! Sounds good.

Claire is not often awake around 10.30, but I might see how we go. Her sleep patterns are changing all the time at the moment!

I'll let you know say on Mon or Tues.

sorry thursdays are generally no good for me:(

Issey
30-03-2006, 15:00
Can always change the time and day. I am flexible. I don't know how to do a poll thing though.

What day is good for you Meme and time wise Fiona for you? My bubs doens't have a sleep time during the day, if he naps for 20mins I am lucky and it is usually when we are out or if I put him in his 'magic' swing :smiliedance:

MrsMiggins
30-03-2006, 15:28
I'm happy to do whatever time.:) Like I said, Claire's sleep patterns are all over the place at the moment, so I couldn't really say from one day to the next what time will be good!

She's normally asleep around 10-10.30, but if we set the time for then, I can definitely try & make it. One day's not going to hurt her - in fact, it might even get her back into a normal sleep pattern..... ahhh! That'd be nice!!

I'm fairly easy. Always up for a meeting. Most days are usually good for me. Doesn't that sound sad. :D

Fiona, Claire would probably have a sleep in the car on the way up. I know Jazz usually does. Drives me nuts when I'm coming home from somewhere and I'm tired. She wakes up when we get home and I don't get my kindy nap.

Chellby, if Rob's got the car that day and you need transport, I have 2 carseats and can give you a lift if you'd like.

Anyway, decide on date and time and I'm most probably there.

wednesday would be good for me. :)
i would love to be able to predict when my bubs will sleep, alas it is usually in the car aswell and then she is all awake when i get home and i just want to lie down and go to sleep:sleeping:

Is Wed 10.30 better for everyone?

MrsMiggins
31-03-2006, 20:51
Sounds good to me! Claire is just taking sleeps whenever the hell she feels like it at the moment, so I'm good for whenever!

You're right Storm, she probably will sleep in the car - resiliant little things, aren't they?!

Issey
31-03-2006, 21:04
Cool will make it Wed at 10.30 then at Banjos :smiliedance:

I checked out ******* (am I allowed to say that on this site?) which has been advertised on TV and found it very out of date (posts from 2yrs ago) execpt a couple of recent posts under sunshine coast so invited the 2 sunny coasters to come onto this site as they are looking for get togethers too.

By the way if anyone has the entertainment book Banjos is in there and you get 50% off food up to $10 I think.

MrsMiggins
01-04-2006, 13:39
Oh cool! That sounds awesome Deb! I know there has to be a million Sunnie Coast mums out there looking to hook up with some other mums. Have you noticed how many babies are around lately?

I have the current Entertainment Book - Banjo's Bakehouse. Is that the one? I'll bring the voucher along. You're right Deb - it's for 50% off the total bill up to $10 value. Under the Entertainment Book rules, you can use up to 3 vouchers - provided we only have the one bill. Does anyone else have the voucher? We could end up having quite a cheap morning tea!

If we have 6 or more people, we can use 3 vouchers. 4-5 people, we can use 2 vouchers.

sounds good for me. are we talking this wednesday coming 5th of april?
sorry have neva heard of the entertainment book. is it a discount coupon thing? can i admit to feeling a little nervous of meeting up and losing my geeky internet anonymity:o .
i have been trying to moderate my internet usage lately so i haven't spent as much time here as i was. how does everyone one else fit computer time into their day? it's pretty new for me and i think i'm an addict!
do you all just spend time on this site or are there others you'd recommend?

MrsMiggins
01-04-2006, 22:15
Yeah! It is a little weird at first meme, but trust me, once everyone gets past that whole "we're all shy & getting to know each other" thing, it's like old mates! I think after meeting #1, we'd all forgotten within the first 5 mins that we'd met online! lol

I have to admit, I got hooked on these sort of parenting sites as soon as we started TTC (gosh! Over 3 1/2 years ago now! ) and I have found this one & another one (I'll PM you - not 100% sure if I can mention it here!) the best.

Hey girls,

Would love to meet up with everyone this week. Thanks for the offer Storm, but we have got my car up and running now! Yay! Might be able to bring some wedding photos to bore you all with!!

MrsMiggins

Issey

Will be great to hear about your wedding Chellby.

Meme I think you said you know who I am from the Breast Feeding Association, not sure which one you are yet? Wasn't there last time as bubs and I was sick. You will be fine we are a friendly bunch :smiliedance:

I usually fit computer time in between everything else, like now - feeding bubs and typing - multi skilled! Try not to do it when DH is around as he feels neglected poor thing. :D

Can't wait to Wed :smiliedance:

Hey girls.

Unfortunately, it looks like I'm now a no show for tomorrow. :crying:

Jazz seems to be having some teething issues at the moment (I think it might be her back teeth) and she is a bit of a grump. Thinking about swapping her for another baby. Just joking. :D

I'll see how she is in the morning, but at the moment it looks like I'll have to be antisocial.

Hope you all have a great time.

Hey Debster, i got an email from you from *******, and yeah, sadly there isn't many sunshine coasters on there, i think there was me and maybe one other, but they aren't really that active, so it's great to get on here and see lots of sunshine coast mums! :D Thanks for the link. Wish i could come tomorrow but have to do something tomorrow with DH. :D

hi everyone, you're probably all on your way to banjo's, and i won't be there:( . my little ones are a bit snotty today, so i'm giving it a miss. the weather is a bit yuk too, really humid and it's affecting our behaviour i think (mine anyway:) ). i don't fancy taking my toddler anywhere today, as a tanty could be brewing...argh, i was so looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi MEME sorry you couldn't make it.

Welcome Proundmamma well be great to get to know you and hopefully you will be able to come to the next get together. :)

We will start a new thread for the next get together so this one doens't get too lengthy. :smiliedance:

Great to see you Chellby, Fiona, Storm and Kate (briefly) at Banjos. Hope you didn't spend too much on the 15% off at target!!! :D

Hi everyone,
Looks like you really enjoyed yourselves today at Banjo's - Debster, I only bought a pair of black pants for work BORING!! But I could've done a lot more damage if Matty wasn't so cranky!!

I love going to the Ginger Factory - it'd be great to take Matty on the train ride!! I can't really suggest a day because I haven't got a car fulltime and work odd hours, but I'll try and fit in with everyone.

Well, my lovely husband is cooking dinner tonight and it's about to be served so I'll see you all soon.
