Hey no need to SHOUT!!!

Ok well I just became a God mother myself a couple of months ago. ( my first time at a service like that too)
What to expect. You will be required to stand with the parents & make some vows. Make sure you understand what you are vowing, after all you are making a pledge to God!!

Dress: Smart Casual. Pressie. Trinkety things seem to be the go :barf: As a God parent though, I would buy him his first Bible or something like that.

Have fun!! :)

Is it in a catholic church, or anglican?? I'm not sure if they expect different things.

If it's catholic, you should buy the cross or angel on a necklace that baby wears. Some parents expect you to purchase baby's outfit as well, or they may have a traditional family outfit already chosen.

I would dress up for the day, it's a special honour being a godparent.

I'm not a Godparent myself, but my bro and his partner are Godparents to my DD.
They had to promise to basically help Amelia become a good person/Catholic, watch over her etc. Really, I think you become special people in the childs life that they can turn to etc...
As for dress code - dressy but OTT
Pressie - Amelia was given a gorgeous crucifix and chain
Hope this helps:)
