Do you wrap/swaddle?
I have a number of friends who have kids the same age as mine (11 weeks) and none of them wrap ... DS2 is a great sleeper but wakes when he becomes un-wrapped ...
What age do you start to un-wrap?
DS1 was wrapped till he was about 7 months when he started sleeping through so I don't know if I wrapped him too long or ... :ecomcity:
Any ideas?
I wrapped DD1 and DD3 until they were 5 months and DD2 liked being wrapped until 7 months. I found that they slept better even in the summer months I would wrap them in muslin wraps and they were happy. My girls all like an arm out of the wrap funnily.
If DD3 was waking from coming unwrapped I would probably wrap her loosely until she got used to it and stop, you need your sleep too.

I asked the same question today when i saw the community nurse.
My DD is 10 weeks old & loves to be wrapped and i thought that i should start to let her sleep just under a sheet, but She has been waking herself up alot this way :hair:.
The com nurse said its ok to wrap them till they r 1 yo. So tonight i will go back to wrapping her and :fingerscrossed:she starts to sleep better again.
Like Jadee said i will slowly wrap her loosely and hopefully she grows out of it.

Your not alone. I'm swaddeling my 10 week old and was wpapping my first DS untill he was about 1 and a bit.
We were using a flat cot sheet to swaddle at that age. I would have kept wrapping him until he was 30 if it ment he felt secure and slept well but we may have had to use flat double bed sheets for a baby that big

Yup, I sure do..
I wrapped ds until he was 3 months old, but even then, I'd leave the wrap underneath him, when he woke up during the night, I'd wrap him and he'd go back to sleep with no problem.
I stopped wrapping dd for a while but in the past 4 days she's been very grumpy, and I found wrapping her is the only way I could calm her down and she'd go to sleep. So back to wrapping she is, lol. (Found out today she's having an ear infection tho', so maybe that's a reason why she's suddenly becoming very very grumpy)

Anakin is 13 weeks & i've experimented with not wrapping him but he likes to be all snuggly :cloud9: I have no idea how to stop wrapping, can't remember how old MJ was & how I did it :o

I wrapped my daughter because "they told me to" :p but she HATED it and so I didn't perservere long. I tried it a couple of times with my son but he also hated it.
Some babies need it, some babies don't.

I wrap at night. DD is 7 weeks. During the day I just use a sheet tucked in tightly and leave her arms out. If she wakes during the night and it's not usually her feed time I re wrap as she has usually pulled out of it. I find she gets to hot during the day. But if she is having a unsettled day I wrap her to see if it makes a diffrence.
Hmm ok ...
SO how do I wrap?
I fold the top few inches down and then wrap snuggly around bub .. he always gets out and wakes every 40 min during the day as a result? If his not wrapped he wakes every 40 - it seems when he stays wrapped he sleeps for 3 hours but when he wriggels and gets out - 40 min ... I think I wrap well but he always gets out ...
how do you wrap?

I wrap Anakin & also wrapped MJ, with arms down by sides. Its the only way they couldn't get out & wake themselves
Basically, use a large wrap (120*120cm) unfolded. Lay bub at the centre top with the wrap just near the neck. Take the wrap across the body, over straight arms & tuck under bubs bum so its not up under their chin, but across the chest. Do the same the other way (should look like a V over the chest). The take the wrap up, over the feet again to the chest & wrap around bub as tight as possible.
Its very tight & restrictive but its the only way my babies like it :o
Hope that helps MJ :hugs:
Our 6 week old DS is also a baby that likes to be wrapped to sleep. After wrapping over the sides with his arms beside him, we actually have to bring the bottom of the wrap up behind him, then back around the front & tie the two ends together.
He is very good as wriggling out of any other way of wrapping. My cousin actually showed me this way, as her 6 month old was a houdini as well.
Occasionally I will walk into his room to see an arm popped out. But generally if we've tied it tight enough (not so as to constrict his breathing obviously!) the arms will stay by his sides.
If we are having a good day, this wrap means that he sleeps though to his next feed.
Good Luck!:fingerscrossed:

I do simular but fold the top down a bit .. he still gets out, and yup arms down by his side!
used a cot sheet tonight so will see how that goes - usually the day sleeps are the worst for wriggling!

Jedd was wrapped with his arms by his side until 7 months. He was then weaned off that and straight into a sleeping bag (Grobag). Its a fantastic sleep association still, plus if he kicks off his blankets I know he will still be (relatively) cosy.
My 19 moth old was wrapped till he was 7 months and s still in a growbag! I love love love grobags!

I wish my dd liked her grobag, but she just wont settle with it on  Shes 8mths and will only sleep swaddled. My first 2 never liked being swaddled so this is new ground for me and I will keep on doing it till shes ready to stop or I cant find something big enough to wrap her in :)
Interested to read only one person on this thread said their bubs hated being wrapped. I am wrapping my 10wk old and she hates it too - she knows it means bedtime and she fights whilst we rock her and hold her tight until she settles. She always gets her arms out as she is incredibly strong and incredibly active. I have continued to wrap as she does sleep well once she is asleep - once she is down of a night (usually asleep by 8pm) she will sleep through to 5-am.
To those that don't wrap: at what age did you stop? and do they wake up regularly by their own startling?
